SAFETY MANAGER plans and manages the general health, safety, and loss control policies and procedures of the organization. Monitors and evaluates the workplace to ensure compliance with governmental regulatory agencies. Being a SAFETY MANAGER designs and directs safety training programs to reduce accidents, occupational illnesses, and exposure to long-term health hazards. Develops worker plans and policies for new employee safety orientation including skill training, emergency preparedness, proper job instruction, hazardous material disposal procedures, and the use of protective equipment. Additionally, SAFETY MANAGER studies, identifies, and reports causes of past accidents and develops recommendations and follow-up to prevent accident recurrences. Requires a bachelor's degree of occupational safety and health or related degree. Typically reports to a head of a unit/department. The SAFETY MANAGER manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. Extensive knowledge of department processes.   • The Opportunity

    As the Safety Manager-Midstream at Par Pacific, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and well-being of our employees, contractors, and the communities in which we operate. You will oversee and implement health and safety programs, conduct inspections, provide safety training, and maintain compliance with all relevant regulations across our pipeline, terminals, marine and rail operations within the organization. This role requires strong leadership, communication skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with various teams and stakeholders.


    Key activities include:

    Health and Safety Program Management:

    • Develop and maintain health and safety programs and policies that align with industry best practices and regulatory requirements
    • Implement safety initiatives to reduce incidents, accidents, and injuries within the Logistics organization
    • Monitor safety performance metrics and make data-driven recommendations for continuous improvement


    Health and Safety Inspections and Audits:

    • Conduct regular safety inspections at pipelines, terminals, and related facilities within the Logistics organization
    • Identify health and safety hazards and potential risks, and work collaboratively to develop corrective action plans
    • Coordinate and assist in external health and safety audits and assessments as necessary


    Training and Education:

    • Develop and deliver safety training programs for site employees and contractors
    • Oversee Logistics health and safety training program and ensure that all employees receive adequate orientation and ongoing training
    • Promote a culture of safety awareness throughout the Logistics organization


    Incident Investigation and Reporting:

    • Lead investigations into safety incidents, near misses, and vehicle accidents
    • Prepare comprehensive incident reports, recommend, and track completion of preventive measures
    • Track and report on incident trends and lessons learned from industry and other Par Pacific sites


    Regulatory Compliance:

    • Stay up-to-date with federal, state, and local health and safety regulations and support a healthy culture of compliance
    • Collaborate with regulatory agencies and authorities as necessary
    • Assist in the development and submission of required health and safety reports


    Emergency Response Planning:

    • Develop and maintain emergency response plans for Logistics pipeline and terminal operations
    • Conduct drills and exercises to ensure readiness for emergency situations
    • Be available to respond in support of emergency situations


    Stakeholder Engagement:

    • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including government agencies, local communities, and contractors, to promote health and safety initiatives
    • Participate in safety committees and industry groups as needed


    Budget Management:

    • Assist in the development and management of the safety budget for the Logistics organization
    • Ensure cost-effective allocation of resources for health and safety programs and initiatives

    Qualifications

    To meet the basic qualifications for employment, you will have legal authorization to work permanently in the United States for any employer without requiring a visa transfer or visa sponsorship.


    Qualifications for this role:

    • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Environmental Science, or a related field; directly related experience may be considered in lieu of degree
    • Professional certifications in safety management (e.g., CSP, CIH, CRSP) preferred
    • Minimum of 5 years of experience in safety leadership roles, with experience in pipeline and terminal operations highly desirable
    • Strong knowledge of safety regulations, standards, and industry best practices
    • Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and safety management software
    • Willingness to travel within the region as needed
