SAFETY MANAGER plans and manages the general health, safety, and loss control policies and procedures of the organization. Monitors and evaluates the workplace to ensure compliance with governmental regulatory agencies. Being a SAFETY MANAGER designs and directs safety training programs to reduce accidents, occupational illnesses, and exposure to long-term health hazards. Develops worker plans and policies for new employee safety orientation including skill training, emergency preparedness, proper job instruction, hazardous material disposal procedures, and the use of protective equipment. Additionally, SAFETY MANAGER studies, identifies, and reports causes of past accidents and develops recommendations and follow-up to prevent accident recurrences. Requires a bachelor's degree of occupational safety and health or related degree. Typically reports to a head of a unit/department. The SAFETY MANAGER manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. Extensive knowledge of department processes.     SUMMARY Responsible for assisting with company-wide safety program – the development, and administration of all safety policies and procedures. The Safety Manager will establish reliable methods for improving safety performance and creating a safe and healthy work environment for all employees, fostering a culture of safety, accountability, and compliance.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

    • Promote safety integrity throughout the entire company
    • Monitor safety compliance
    • Plans, implements and conducts preventative care, safety, and compliance training programs
    • High level of communication with job site managers, and local, federal, and state agencies such as MSHA, OSHA, and DOT
    • Capable of preparing, tailoring, and presenting training topics to large groups to the level and experience of the audience
    • Administer, monitor, and ensure the completeness and accuracy of accident reports and investigations
    • Collect, analyze, and maintain safety statistics and injury and illness records
    • Facilitate MSHA, OSHA, and DOT safety training
    • Conduct job site inspections
    • Train new and existing Safety Superintendents
    • Write Toolbox Talks
    • Can interpret and adopt new Federal/ State regulations
    • Accident and incident investigations

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in safety management preferred but not required
    • 10-12 years of experience in construction safety
    • Overnight travel and flexibility to travel with little to no notice is required
    • Position is based out of our Goshen corporate office
    • Experience in OSHA Construction (1926 & 1910) compliance preferred
    • Knowledge in MSHA & DOT rules and regulations
    • Exceptional organizational skills
    • Adaptable and able to thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office essential
    • Strong quantitative and analytical skills
    • Problem-solving skills with attention to detail
    • Self-motivated; ability to work independently
    • Good written and verbal communication skills
