SAFETY MANAGER plans and manages the general health, safety, and loss control policies and procedures of the organization. Monitors and evaluates the workplace to ensure compliance with governmental regulatory agencies. Being a SAFETY MANAGER designs and directs safety training programs to reduce accidents, occupational illnesses, and exposure to long-term health hazards. Develops worker plans and policies for new employee safety orientation including skill training, emergency preparedness, proper job instruction, hazardous material disposal procedures, and the use of protective equipment. Additionally, SAFETY MANAGER studies, identifies, and reports causes of past accidents and develops recommendations and follow-up to prevent accident recurrences. Requires a bachelor's degree of occupational safety and health or related degree. Typically reports to a head of a unit/department. The SAFETY MANAGER manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. Extensive knowledge of department processes.     • Develop, Implement and Manage Safety and accident prevention program.
    • Manage company, fleet, driver and equipment compliance to all federal & state DOT, FMSCA and local regulations.
    • Manage driver safety scorecard program focusing on predictive indicator markers and corrective action processes.
    • Develop and manage fleet and driver Safety improvement communication program focused on constant education of core safety principles, best practices and the value of safe vehicle operation.
    • Review safety performance KPI’s. Develop and report action plans to Executive leadership.
    • Manage on board camera alert systems, driver coaching and follow-up processes.
    • Support Recruiting team to ensure all new hire standards are met.
    • Review application background and MVR reports for all new hire driver approvals.
    • Investigate all accident and reported damage incidents to arrive at root cause reporting and actionable preventative plan
    • Manage Orientation staff, curriculum and processes to ensure the new hire experience is educational, thorough and exceeding of new hires expectations.
    • Manage Fleet HOS compliance and E Log violations processing including coaching, education and corrective action processes.
    • Manage Fleet registration and permitting.
    • Facilitate Road testing/ Driver evaluation process.

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

    • Practical knowledge of truckload transportation industry.
    • Above average knowledge of the applicable FMCSA and DOT Regulations.
    • Ability to effectively lead others, problem solve and work well in fast-pace, high-pressure situations.
    • Ability to present and communicate effectively with all levels of internal and external staff and business partners.
    • Ability to self-manage with above average organization, output and proficiency.
    • Expert organization skills with practical logic processes.
    • Above average communication and conflict resolution skills.
    • Ability to support on-call emergency situations any time of day or night.
    • Ability to motivate a team to achieve targeted results.
    • Proficient Computer skills required including Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel
    • Strong Leadership skills and work ethic are a must.
    • Candidate will possess exemplary trustworthiness and responsibility traits.

    Required Experience:

    • 2 years as in a Trucking Safety manager and/or Truckload Operations management role
    • 2 years CDL A driving experience with clean MVR.
    • CDS/CSS certification a plus
    • Experience with McLeod, Tenstreet and Lytx is a plus
