SAFETY MANAGER plans and manages the general health, safety, and loss control policies and procedures of the organization. Monitors and evaluates the workplace to ensure compliance with governmental regulatory agencies. Being a SAFETY MANAGER designs and directs safety training programs to reduce accidents, occupational illnesses, and exposure to long-term health hazards. Develops worker plans and policies for new employee safety orientation including skill training, emergency preparedness, proper job instruction, hazardous material disposal procedures, and the use of protective equipment. Additionally, SAFETY MANAGER studies, identifies, and reports causes of past accidents and develops recommendations and follow-up to prevent accident recurrences. Requires a bachelor's degree of occupational safety and health or related degree. Typically reports to a head of a unit/department. The SAFETY MANAGER manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Join Marmic Fire & Safety as a Sprinkler Inspection Service Manager! In this role, you will lead a team of sprinkler inspection technicians who are trusted to handle our client’s fire protection needs across a broad range of commercial and industrial enterprises. Specifically, you will:
Support the inspection technicians in their day-to-day activities so they can provide their clients with excellent service.
Develop the team’s technical abilities, especially creating a path for all technicians to become NICET certified.
Ensure the team is cross trained to provide both career development and comprehensive client coverage.
Support and guide technicians to reach their monthly inspections and service processes goals.
Ensure administration of data and documentation is correctly and accurately transmitted internally and externally including approving and submitting payroll, approving time off requests, etc.
Manage staff and the initiation of inspections and commodities.
Communicate, train and ensure the team adheres to all applicable codes, NFPA standards, safety requirements, rules and regulations of inspections, as well as company policies and best business practices.
Travel approximately (generally expected to be around 10%) to complete inspection projects, engaging with the community’s fire marshals and our customers as needed
Manage service escalations.
We seek the following education, skills and experiences:
High school diploma or equivalent
5 years of experience working in the fire sprinkler inspections field.
3 years supervisory experience in the field of sprinkler inspections preferred
NICET II certification required, but NICET III certification is strongly preferred
Track record of strong, creative, communicative and presentation skills.
Demonstrated experience setting and achieving goals for a team,
Strong problem solving skills in a fast-paced environment and engineering creative solutions
Strong attention to detail, especially related to administrative, time management and analytical skills
Ability to travel overnight as needed (travel will be a bit heavier initially during onboarding at around 20%, but then on an ongoing basis, travel is expected to be about 10%)
