Safety Representative outlines and implements training programs to educate and inform workforce on work safety, environmental safety, and accident prevention regulations and procedures. Develops and distributes educational materials including videos, guides, and posters. Being a Safety Representative tracks and documents accidents to understand causes and recommend changes to prevent future accidents. Performs inspections and audits of facilities, equipment and processes recommending corrections or additional precautions to ensure compliance to established regulations. Additionally, Safety Representative has a broad and current knowledge of all government and applicable industry safety regulations. Typically requires a bachelor's degree or its equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Safety Representative works on projects/matters of limited complexity in a support role. Work is closely managed. This position is responsible for providing the regulatory compliance, technical, and training support necessary to create and maintain a safe and compliant work environment. Employee will work independently most of the time and must be capable and willing to function in a lead capacity. May also be required to supervise the work of other personnel on assigned safety related projects. Will handle a diverse range of complex assignments requiring a combination of experience, innovation and good judgment. May be required to participate in new or unfamiliar areas of the job family. This position may lead the Operator Qualification (OQ) effort in the assigned Work Locations including, but not limited to, training evaluators, administrators, and Operations Team Leads as well as functioning as the OQ Administrative liaison between Southern Star and the selected 3rd party OQ administrator.
This position may lead Construction Safety effort in the assigned Work Region and may be responsible for projects across the Southern Star system. In addition, but not limited to: training inspectors, company personnel, as well as functioning as the Safety Liaison between Southern Star and 3rd party contractors/inspectors, along with oversight of internal projects. Will be required to plan, conduct, assist and/or lead work tasks requiring independent evaluation and decisions and must assume responsibility for overall project success.
