Rescue Technician Job Summary:
This position requires a dedicated and reliable person with interest in learning and growing in our Rescue and Safety division. The employee will be responsible for developing the skills and techniques necessary to perform task as required by F.I.R.S.T. and industrial emergency response teams.
Rescue Technician Duties and Responsibilities:
• Uses highly technical and specialized equipment for the rescue, stabilization and mitigation of emergencies involving medical calls, rope rescue, confined space, trench, and excavation, and other specialized and technical rescues
• Operates specialized tools, instruments, and communications equipment
• Responds to emergencies when recalled for duty
• Inspects, maintains, and repairs special technical rescue equipment
• Required to keep specific trainings up to date annually to stay active
• Adhere to all safety procedures both in the office and out in the field
• Complete all necessary paperwork as required by this job position including rescue preplans, work safety plans, air monitoring logs, rescue team charge sheets, payroll information, expense reports, etc.
Rescue Technician Requirements and Qualifications:
• Minimum - high school graduation or GED
• TWIC Card (have or have applied for)
• Able to pass evaluations for all training provided by F.I.R.S.T. in new hire class and annual refreshers (F.I.R.S.T covers the expense of these trainings): 40-hour Confined Space/High Angle Rescue Training , First AID, CPR, AED , Basic Plus and Site Specifics , Medical Protocols , SCBA Training , Monitor Training , Hazmat Awareness, Additional online trainings
• Mandatory pre-employment and random drug testing required
• Clean background check
• Current driver’s license
• Must be able to work at heights ranging up to 300ft above ground
• Physical requirements involve climbing ladders to reach heights while carrying tools/gear
• Must be able be able to life a minimum of 20 pounds
• Work outside year-round facing all different weather climates
• Organizational skills to keep paperwork and equipment in order
• Interpersonal skills to create a pleasant experience for all customers/employees
• Technologically compete
• Minimum of 3 days of availability put in weekly
Position Benefits:
• Part-time employment with the ability to work full-time hours based upon personal availability submitted and company work load
• Flexibility in schedule
• Base Pay: (depends based on experience and performance in new hire training) Rescue Technician: $16-$21. Non-billable rates (Training & Shop): $15/hour. EMT/Paramedics: If you have either one of these certifications and a client is asking specifically for this position, the rates will be increased $25
• Ability to move up to full-time status with full benefits (health insurance, PTO, sick days, bereavement days, 401k, gym reimbursement) after 1 year tenure with good performance and company demand
