Job Summary: Under the direction of the Gurnee Plant Manager, the HSE Technician will support the daily functions of the Health, Safety, and Environmental compliance plan for the Gurnee Roquette Facility, in Gurnee, IL. Responsible for ensuring the HSE plan and activities reduce exposure, eliminate incidents, and are performed within external regulatory requirements and internal management guidelines. Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities Responsible for the development, implementation, and documentation of existing HSE programs in accordance with Local, State, and Federal Safety, Health, and Environmental requirements, and well within compliance of Roquette policies and management systems. Responsible and accountable for the preparation, submission, and documentation of all applicable regulatory reporting requirements; accurate submission and completion of accident and incident reporting to Roquette within designated deadlines and reporting process guidelines; preparing and submitting all Roquette required monthly and quarterly performance index reports and metrics. Responsible for serving as liaison with Roquette, regulatory agencies, and outside vendors pertaining to HSE matters. Acquires and maintains accredited and appropriate training Responsible for ensuring that required regulatory / Roquette HSE training is conducted, documented, and records are maintained for all Roquette employees. Reviews personal expectations with key individuals and reviews performance relating to HSE compliance as needed. Lead / Conduct "HSE Gemba-walks" observing opportunities for improvement and confirming that safe and sound work practice are occurring. Coordinate all HSE related incident investigations. Coordinate HSE activities related to internal investment projects and ensure external contactors comply with Roquette HSE standards. Travel as necessary for training, best practice sharing, and to assist with HSE improvement activities. Monitor all critical measurement systems through audits and daily evaluations to ensure that these systems are in control Perform other duties as may be assigned by the Gurnee Plant Manager Qualifications/Requirements Bachelor's Degree in Safety or similar field, or equivalent experience. 1-3 years’ experience as a HSE professional in a manufacturing environment. Knowledge of applicable Federal and State safety and environmental regulations. Strong communication, analytical and human relations skills. Working knowledge of environmental processes and principles Skilled in use of personal computers with emphasis on analytical software. ·Excellent verbal/written communication, presentation, training/leadership skills, interpersonal skills, and organizational skills. Ability to take initiative, meet deadlines, and work in a team environment essential. Preferred Qualifications: Relevant certification(s) (OHST, GSP, CHMM, etc.) a plus.
