Sales Administration Director develops and directs the sales data analysis function to deliver reporting and tools to sales teams and management that ensure effective sales execution and the achievement of growth objectives. Deploys CRM and other systems to manage customer and activity data. Being a Sales Administration Director develops monitoring and methodologies to analyze sales metrics and to provide insights, support decisions, and highlight areas for process improvement. Directs research efforts to understand market conditions and competitors. Additionally, Sales Administration Director may enable training activities that will ensure sales teams understand and effectively utilize systems and reporting resources. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to senior management. The Sales Administration Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. To be a Sales Administration Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function. Deputy Director of Finance and Administration

  • Examples of Duties:

    • Provides professional staff support & expert consultation to Executive Director & Board of Directors.
    • Assumes full management responsibility for all SJCOG financial functions and activities, including budget development, internal controls, capital financing, financial record keeping and reporting, financial systems design, implementation and control, investment management, purchasing, contract management, and inventory control.
    • Manages the development and implementation of financial goals, objectives, policies and priorities for each operational and service area within SJCOG; establishes appropriate service and staffing levels; and allocates resources accordingly.
    • Plans, directs & coordinates development & administration of the annual operating budget; forecasts additional funds needed for staffing, equipment, materials & supplies; monitors & approves expenditures; directs the preparation of and implements budgetary adjustments as necessary.
    • Plans, directs & coordinates development and monitors the annual Overall Work Program; meets with management staff to identify & resolve problems; reviews & evaluates work methods and procedures.
    • Evaluates alternative financing methods for all major acquisitions including facilities & equipment; monitors investments & issuances; executes transactions needed to minimize borrowing costs & maximize earnings.
    • Monitors and reviews building facilities and provides recommendations on the maintenance, repair and replacement of all building systems.
    • Represents the SJCOG to external organizations, community groups and members of the public.
    • Prepares and presents staff reports and other correspondence.
    • Performs special projects as assigned and related duties and responsibilities as required.

    Education and Experience:

    Any combination of education and experience that would provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical path to obtain the required knowledge and abilities would be:

    • A master's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in business administration, public administration, finance or a closely related field; CPA certification is desirable; and
    • A minimum of 10 years of responsible experience managing a large and highly complex finance program within a public agency that includes at least three years’ experience at a policy determination level.
