We have a great opportunity to join our Microbiology team as a Media Prep Specialist. The Media Prep Specialist participates in routine laboratory processes and laboratory testing to support the medical device and pharmaceutical industries.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

· Preparation, coordination and scheduling of media loads and ancillary/associated activities in support of microbiology department.

· Participates in the daily activities, including testing, associated with sterilization of media and materials for testing and general support to the Microbiology Department.

· Clean labware as needed.

· Participates in media-related equipment validation/qualification. 

· Notifies appropriate individuals when maintenance of the sterilizer and related equipment is needed.

· All other tasks as assigned by management.

Requirements

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma required with focus of studies in science preferred.

COMPUTER SKILLS

Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).

COMMUNICATION SKILLS

Must be able to effectively communicate verbally and in writing with management, co-workers and clients. Read and comprehend work instructions/SOPs and protocols and write clear concise reports.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and manipulate equations involving exponential and logarithmic functions. Must be able to use metric.

OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES 

Ability to analyze, interpret and draw conclusions from data and exhibit problem solving and trouble shooting skills.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
