Overview
We are seeking a skilled Sawyer to join our team in a dynamic warehouse environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in woodworking and fabrication, with experience using various power tools and machinery. As a Sawyer, you will play a critical role in the production process, ensuring that wood materials are cut and shaped according to specifications for various projects.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

Operation and Setup

· Operate and maintain the truss-cutting machine to cut wood components to precise specifications.

· Set up the machine with appropriate tools, blades, and programs for each job.

· Adjust settings to accommodate varying material types and project requirements.

· Monitor machine operations to ensure smooth performance and adherence to specifications.

Cutting and Quality Control

· Read work orders, and cutting schedules to understand project requirements.

· Measure and cut wood components accurately to specified dimensions using the machine.

· Use a tape measure with precision to verify measurements of materials and cuts.

· Conduct regular inspections of cut materials to ensure they meet quality standards.

· Identify and correct any discrepancies in cutting measurements or wood defects.

Safety and Maintenance

· Follow all safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment.

· Perform routine maintenance/cleaning of the machine to keep it in good working order.

· Report malfunctions, wear, or damage to machinery promptly to supervisors.

· Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.

Material Handling

· Load raw lumber onto the machine and unload finished components.

· Must be able to lift to 50 lbs. regularly as part of material handling tasks.

· Organize and label cut materials for efficient workflow and assembly.

· Assist in inventory management by reporting material usage and needs.

Team Collaboration

· Communicate with supervisors, engineers, and team members regarding project progress and challenges.

· Coordinate with assembly teams to ensure timely delivery of components.

· Train or assist new sawyers or operators as needed.

Documentation and Reporting

· Keep accurate records of production, including quantities cut, machine settings, and maintenance logs.

· Report any issues affecting production or safety to management.

Required Skills and Qualifications

· Ability to lift 50 lbs. regularly and handle physical demands of the job.

· Proficiency in using a tape measure to ensure precise measurements.

· Familiarity with truss-cutting machines and other woodworking equipment.

· Ability to read technical drawings and cutting lists.

· Strong attention to detail and precision.

· Mechanical aptitude for troubleshooting machinery.

· Physical stamina for standing, lifting, and handling materials throughout the shift.
