POSITION SUMMARY
- The Superintendent is the Chief Executive Officer of the District and, under the direction of the Board, is responsible for control and operation of the school system, and for implementing the decisions and policies of the Board. The Superintendent is responsible for leading the district in alignment with the vision, mission, and goals set by the Board.
QUALIFICATIONS AND PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
- A current license that qualifies the individual to serve as Superintendent of the District.
- A Master’s degree or higher in the field of Educational Administration.
- Successful public school teaching experience at the elementary or secondary level.
- Service as a Superintendent or district administrative experience.
CANDIDATES SHOULD POSSESS:
- Success in district leadership roles with staff, community, and professional peers;
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing;
- Scholarship, intelligence, and an ability to plan and organize;
- Training and experience in personnel selection, evaluation, and development;
- A successful track records of implementing instructional improvement including curriculum development, implementation, and evaluation;
- Knowledge of school finance that facilitates planning, control, and accountability;
- Experience in administering collective bargaining agreements;
- Ability to motivate others involved in the decision-making process;
- Strong management skills; and the desire and ability to motivate and innovate, taking advantage of the District's strengths.
- High degree of integrity/honesty with strong core values;
- Commitment to putting students first and serving all Pre-K to post-secondary students;
- An understanding of small, rural areas similar to the Baker School District community;
- Open mind and personable/approachable personality;
- Understanding of Oregon school finance and demonstration of sound fiscal management and strong budgeting skills;
- Innovative and out-of-the-box thinking with the ability to build and sustain strong, effective relationships/partnerships that impact student success;
- Ability to collaborate and empower internal and external stakeholders
- Provide forward-thinking leadership at the local, regional, and statewide level;
- Ability to make difficult decisions with transparency and use sound judgment in times of crisis.
CONTRACT INFORMATION
- Annual Salary Range is $144,539 - $166,066 (based upon 260 days) depending on years of experience and level of education based on the 2023-2024 Administrative Salary Schedule.

In addition, the District shall pay the six percent (6%) employee contribution (PERS) required by ORS 238.200 and ORS 238A.330.
DISTRICT POLICY
It is the District’s policy to provide veterans and disabled veterans with preference as required by law.
