Legend Biotech is seeking Scientist I/II as part of the R&D Novel CAR Design team based in Piscataway, NJ.

Role Overview

To substantially improve function (efficacy and safety profiles) and fitness of immune cellbased modalities, which helps overcome shortcomings of engineered immune cells in clinics, the R & ED team is willing to seek a highly motivated scientist to investigate novel cytokine arming strategies and identify optimal ones. The candidate will coordinate with other team members to timely perform research activities, analyze data and report results along with other lab duties. The ideal candidate has experience in immune-oncology and/or CAR natural killer (NK) and/or gamma-delta (gd) T cells and is willing to embrace new challenges and technologies. The candidate in this role will have exposure to up-to-date knowledge and techniques in cell-based cancer immunotherapy.

Key Responsibilities

• Execute experiments designed to characterize the function and fitness of immune cell therapy candidates.
• Strong wet-lab experience including virus preparation/transduction, CAR NK and/or gd T activation and phenotypic tumor killing assay, multi-color flow cytometry.
• Develop/optimize functional assays to screen and identify potential candidates.
• Keep accurate laboratory documentation, especially electronic lab notebook.
• Maintain GxP and EHS compliance.
• Analyze and report scientific data in a timely manner.
• Present results in small team and large functional group meetings.
  
  
  

Requirements

• PhD’s degree in immunology, tumor biology or a relevant biological field.
• 3 year of experience in cancer immunotherapy, cell therapy, immunology or oncology, and/or CAR NK/gd T cells.
• Experience of immune cell isolation, activation/expansion from human PBMCs.
• Experience in lentivirus and/or retrovirus production and transduction is required.
• Extensive experience in cellular and immune cell-based analytics and assay development, including but not limited to, advanced multi-parameter flow-cytometry, cell labeling, mixed lymphocyte reactions, cell proliferation assays, cytotoxicity assays, cytokine release ELISA/MSD multiplex assays is highly required.
• Critical thinker with strong problem-solving skills.
• Up-to date knowledge of immunology and immunotherapy.
• Track record of productivity evidenced by publications or patents.
• Independently plan and timely execution of research programs.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
