    Doctoral degree (or foreign equivalent) in Environmental Health/Environmental Science/Earth Science/Environmental Engineering/Analytical chemistry or a closely related field. Three (3) years of related research experience with at least one year of research experience following attainment of a Doctoral degree or foreign equivalent.

    Preferred Qualifications:
    Three (3) years of working experience with liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LCMS).

    Brief Description of Duties:
    is recruiting a Research Scientist with a focus on . The project will be aimed at detecting and quantifying drugs, including opioids, illicit drugs, pharmaceuticals and personal care products, and other chemicals in wastewater. The project may also involve identifying pathogens of concern in wastewater and studying potential public health implications. WBE can serve as an early warning tool for understanding the drug consumption trend or the emergence of any new outbreaks in defined communities, which may assist in public health interventions. Prospective candidates should demonstrate attention to detail, prior experience collaborating in extensive multidisciplinary teams, effective communication skills, mentoring abilities, and adaptability to changing research directions.

    Responsibilities will include:

    * Analytical method development, wastewater sample processing, and sample analysis.

    * Data analysis and interpretation, presentations, and writing manuscripts for publication in appropriate top-flight journals.

    * Writing proposals for external support.

    * Other duties as assigned.

    Special Notes:
    The Research Foundation of SUNY is a private educational corporation. Employment is subject to the Research Foundation policies and procedures, sponsor guidelines and the availability of funding. FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. Minimum salary threshold must be met to maintain FLSA exemption.

    The position is for two years, with the possibility of renewal based on satisfactory performance and funding availability. The salary will be in accordance with the experience and candidate's profile.
