Position Description & Details:
North Dakota State University’s Department of Plant Sciences invites applications for a Research Scientist position to assist the dry bean genomics and genetics program lead in developing and applying genomic tools and genetic resources for basic and applied research for dry bean improvement. The successful candidate will design, implement, and analyze experiments in the laboratory and greenhouse in association with the dry bean genomics/genetics program. Responsibilities include identifying, evaluating, and utilizing appropriate procedures to allow successful completions of the experiment; data analysis using appropriate genetic, genomic, and phenotypic statistical procedures; safely storing all genetic, genomic, and phenotypic data, summarizing research results in professional meetings and scientific publications. Additionally, the candidate will assist with grant preparation and provide research results for reports. Duties include supervising and training researchers in the laboratory and the department and performing other duties of a scientific nature. Duties will require coordination with the head of the bean genomics/genetics program, technical staff, graduate students, other members of the program, other researchers in the department, and researchers at collaborating institutions.
