Description

The Process Improvement & Quality Assurance Manager plays an essential role in customer satisfaction and confidence by assessing the efficiency of control systems and recommending improvements that ensure product quality and safety. This individual analyzes current processes for improvement and creates detailed processes where there are none. This individual is also responsible for maintaining high quality production standards as well as ensuring all locations adhere to food safety standards.

The Process Improvement & Quality Assurance Manager is an excellent communicator, works independently and exercises flexibility and good judgment, and is responsive to rapidly changing priorities.

Key Duties & Accountabilities (Primary responsibilities & quantifiable measurements)

• Monitor the production line and perform periodic quality control checks for adherence to process.
• Reviews products, processes, and systems on an ongoing basis for continuous improvement and customer satisfaction.
• Creates Key Performance Indicators across all departments and provides benchmarks for performance.
• Recommend and lead implementation of improvements to production processes that lead to increased product quality.
• Provides quality control, safety and food safety principles training for new hires, at monthly meetings and when processes are revised.
• Collects and approves audit information for potential suppliers.
• Leads Quality & Safety Committee.
• Maintain uniformity of manufacturing specs. Quality check all new and changed specs in Merchandising.
• Maintains Safety and Food Safety Files, paperwork and compliance with GMP safety requirements.

Essential Functions (Essential/secondary functions that support the primary responsibilities)

• Continuing education on newly developing Process & Quality Control techniques
• Provides a broader perspective based experience and customer concerns leading to a higher quality product
• Maintains Food Safety Quality Management System (FSQM), requesting audits and appropriate food safety documentation as necessary and following up to ensure correct actions are implemented
• Prepares correspondence related to corrective actions, audit compliance, timelines for required activities, product quality complaints etc.
• Maintains confidentiality, and partners with Human Resources, to ensure compliance with applicable State and Federal Laws including, but not limited to, the following: DOT/FMCSR, drug and alcohol testing, WC/OSHA accident investigations.

Qualifications

Educational/Training Requirements/Experience (What your background should look like)

• High School diploma/GED, Bachelor’s Degree preferred
• A minimum of 3 years experience in a quality or safety role in manufacturing
• Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification is preferred
• Critical thinking and problem-solving skill
