Job Summary:
Develops implements and maintains policies and programs to ensure physical safety of the casino’s guests, employees, property and assets; complies with Virginia Lottery Gaming Control Board security requirements and the casino’s internal controls. This role will support the day-to-day management of the Security and Valet operations to ensure the operation is fostering an excellent guest experience, good client relations and promoting a professional and courteous image. Additionally, this role will play a key part in creating and implementing a successful staging plan by utilizing all aspects of the location’s layout to ensure maximum parking capacity.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Duties/Responsibilities:
- The Director of Security will report to the VP of Operations regarding policy, purpose, responsibilities, authority, and administrative matters
- Responsible for the overall operation of the Security and Valet Department
- Continually monitor staffing to ensure adequate coverage for all anticipated business requirements and compliance with Security and Valet Department minimum staffing submission
- Develops and implements departmental policies, procedures, and training programs to ensure the protection of all company assets as wells as the safety and welfare of guests and team members
- Develops and implements Security and Valet departmental budgets
- Responsible for the physical safety of natural persons, the physical safeguarding of assets, and the protection of the property of both the patron and the slot machine licensee from illegal activity
- Collaborates with the human resources department or its functional equivalent, the design, implementation, and enforcement of a system for the issuance of access badges and temporary access credentials
- Responsible for recording of any unusual incidents within the licensed facility in which the security department is involved
- Responsible for the identification and immediate notification to supervisors of any persons who requires exclusion or ejection from the facility
- Performs all the duties and responsibilities required under the system of internal controls that were approved
- Must immediately notify the Virginia State Police upon detecting the presence of a person possessing a weapon
- Responsible for the provision of immediate notice to supervisors designated in the internal controls and the casino compliance representatives and the Virginia State Police at the licensed facility upon detecting any person who is engaging in or attempting to engage in, or who is suspected of cheating, theft, embezzlement, a violation of this part or other illegal activities
- Keeps abreast of crimes and trends with the Virginia Lottery Gaming Control Board and local law enforcement through establishment of mutual rapport
- Directs internal investigations
- Manage and maintain audit department contact with team members to clarify, explain or provide data/information.
- Performs all other duties as assigned
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
- Must be 21 years of age or older
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Five or more years progressive gaming, security and/or public safety management or equivalent combination of experience
Certifications, Licenses, and/or Registrations:
- Gaming license/registration as required by jurisdiction(s).
- Valid Driver's License
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Advanced technical knowledge of slot systems required
- Background and knowledge of security operations, Occupational Safety and Health
- Administration (OSHA) regulations, safety, investigation, and legal issues
- Excellent oral and written communication skill
- Excellent leadership/motivation skills
- Excellent organization and planning skills
- Excellent knowledge in various computer programs including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, etc.)
- Available to work flexible shifts, weekends, and holiday
- Ability to obtain and maintain all necessary licensing
- Ability to work in a noisy and smoky environment
Physical Requirements:
- Regularly required to see, walk, talk and hear; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms
- Must occasionally lift and lift up to 25 pounds
