Security Manager implements security strategy, policies, and standards to ensure the physical safety of all visitors, employees, or customers to the organization's facilities and the security of property and assets. Conducts regular audits and inspections to assess, identify, and mitigate any security vulnerabilities or gaps. Being a Security Manager trains staff and establishes operational plans for crisis response, disaster recovery, evacuation, workplace violence, and other emergency events. Monitors and inspects systems, alarms, and other physical security measures. Additionally, Security Manager participates in education programs and contributes to communications on security policies and topics to ensure staff is adequately informed and equipped to manage potential security issues. Engages with local, state, provincial, or federal authorities to keep abreast with all security-related information, directives, and events. Initiates or assists with investigations and critical event responses in coordination with law enforcement and other officials or agencies. Understands law enforcement methods, tactics, and procedures. Requires a bachelor's degree in law enforcement, criminal justice, security, or related discipline. Typically reports to a director. The Security Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. 5. Incident Reporting: Document and report all incidents, accidents, or suspicious activities in a timely and accurate manner.
6. Collaboration: Work collaboratively with local law enforcement and emergency services when necessary.
7. Maintain Order: Enforce property rules and regulations to maintain order and ensure a secure environment.
8. Communication: Maintain clear and effective communication with the security team, supervisors, and other relevant personnel.
9. Training: Participate in ongoing training to stay updated on security protocols and industry best practices.
10. Adherence to Policies: Adhere to company policies, procedures, and ethical standards at all times.
Requirements:
1. High School diploma or equivalent.
2. State-mandated security guard license (if applicable).
3. Proven experience in security, law enforcement, or a related field is a plus.
4. Strong observational and problem-solving skills.
5. Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
6. Ability to handle emergency situations calmly and efficiently.
7. Basic computer skills for incident reporting.
8. Physical fitness and the ability to stand and patrol for extended periods.
9. Availability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
