    Job Summary:
    Manages the daily physical operations of Mendel Center spaces and equipment including facility appearance and functionality, on-site event management, contract compliance, client management, and oversight of technical and other support services. Ensures an exceptional customer service experience and overall safety of students, faculty, staff, performers, clients, and all other guests. Responsible for developing and executing event rentals sales strategy to clients, event planners, and promoters. Manages the execution of events as required.

    Essential Functions:
    1. Manages day-to-day operations of all Mendel Center spaces including safety and security, equipment maintenance and equipment inventory. Coordinates efforts with Facility department, custodial staff, and Information Technology department as needed. Assesses and improves the building needs and monitors project progress when necessary.2. Liaison with faculty for physical needs of academic performances. Manager of technical aspects for all non-outsourced events and performances.3. Manages the technical services contracts for outsourced vendors (e.g. TPC, 1928, etc.) including weekly hour allocations, project scheduling, invoicing, and conflict resolution.4. Responsible for the set up and restoration of spaces before and after events and performances (furniture, equipment, catering stations, etc.), as well as on-site supervision during events. Oversees and serves in the rotation of front of house manager, back of house manager, technical director and/or event coordinator as needed. May include the supervision of additional team members or vendors depending upon the scope of the event.5. Oversight, training, and management of box office operations, 100 member volunteer usher corps, and student internships. Sets an example for exemplary work ethic and decision making.6. Communicates event details with relevant parties and executes events accordingly. Communicates any revisions or last-minute requests to all relevant parties. Leads event planning/production meetings and provides other overarching process documentation as needed.7. Ensures that clients are greeted and briefed in a friendly, professional manner and are supported throughout their event including attention to revised or last-minute requirements.8. Receives and reports feedback from stakeholders and actively makes efforts to address any issues, seeking to identify continuous improvement opportunities wherever possible.9. Works to attract and maintain relationships with promoters for Mainstage co-productions and professional rentals. Liaison with management for outside talent.10. Oversight of specialized areas within the Mendel Center (e.g. scene shop, practice rooms, recording studio, prop loft, costume loft, kitchen, performance tech, storage areas, etc.).11. Schedules regular maintenance and tuning of pianos within the building and on satellite campuses.12. Participates in the curation of the Mendel Center season and various series and programming initiatives therein. This may include programming, negotiating, and coordinating artists contracts, and advancing shows, as well as employing strategies for student engagement.

    1. Performs other duties as assigned.

    Accountabilities:
    Under the supervision of the Associate Dean, Visual & Performing Arts, the Operations Manager is responsible for meeting operational targets and ensuring that students, faculty, clients, and patrons within the Mendel Center have an exceptional experience.

    Job Specifications:
    Bachelors degree required. Two or more years of experience in a coordination or management role in a theater, performing arts center, event center or comparable venue. Exceptionally strong skills in one or more technical theatre area. Ability to lift 50 lbs.; Strong attention to detail, exceptional interpersonal skills, and good written, verbal, and organizational skills. Must have a track record of being a team player. Intermediate to advanced level knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel. Required to work a variable schedule, including extended workdays and weekends as dictated by scheduled events. DESIRED QUALITIES: Preferred qualifications include the following: Experience in a hospitality or customer service-related field; Commitment to the value of diversity and the free and open exchange of ideas; Commitment to the community college mission.
