Security Specialist administers, coordinates, and evaluates security programs that support the strategy, policies, and standards established for the physical safety of all visitors, employees, or customers to the organization's facilities and the security of property and assets. Compiles data and analyzes results of audits, inspections, daily logs, and incident reports to assess security vulnerabilities, measure program effectiveness, and identify the need for additional resources. Being a Security Specialist coordinates any required security clearance processing or investigative research for employees or job candidates with applicable entities. Assists with the development of training, education programs, and communications on security policies and topics to ensure staff is prepared for potential security issues, crisis response, disaster recovery, evacuation, workplace violence, and other emergency events. Additionally, Security Specialist monitors communications and stays informed about local, state, provincial, or federal security-related information, directives, and events. May coordinate or assist with investigations and critical event responses in coordination with law enforcement and other officials. Understands law enforcement methods, tactics, and procedures. Typically requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent. Typically reports to a head of a unit/department. The Security Specialist occasionally directed in several aspects of the work.     Position is based at 5000 Rogers Ave, Fort Smith, AR 72903 however, position requires flexibility to travel within the Fort Smith area.

    Position requires availability Monday through Friday from 8 am to 5 pm with the ability to work additional hours as needed.

    SUMMARY: Under the supervision and direction of the assigned manager/supervisor, the Security Specialist 2 provides physical protection and security for the bank’s personnel, property and assets. The incumbent ensures compliance with Arvest Bank policies and procedures. Additionally, the Security Specialist 2 serves as first responder to security threats and escalates to the manager/supervisor.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

    • Provide physical protection and security of the bank’s personnel, property and assets.
    • Identify disruptive behavior and know when to escalate to Security Manager. Have ability to use negotiation and persuasion ability to maintain control until Manager or law enforcement arrives and intervenes.
    • As directed by manager/supervisor, coordinate with local law enforcement, when law enforcement is called onto Arvest Bank property, such as for robbery, altercations or other breaches of security.
    • Serve as local contact for alarm companies and local law enforcement. May be on-call person for alarm calls after hours.
    • Examine all security devices and administer testing as directed by manager/supervisor.
    • Routinely perform facility security checks including outside perimeter checks to minimize security risks and ensure all exterior lights are working properly.
    • On as called basis, work with vendors on bank premises.
    • Ensure branch personnel are following all established security procedures, including Opening/Closing and Robbery/Bomb procedures.
    • Maintain knowledge of equipment so as to know when to recommend replacements or enhancements to Manager/Supervisor.
    • Ensure all monthly and quarterly branch audits are complete and reports submitted to appropriate management staff.
    • Serve as a liaison to Group Security Department for camera and security needs.
    • Verify emergency numbers are posted and known to entire staff and emergency exit plans are posted.

    QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

    EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

    • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
    • Three (3) years previous security experience required (security experience in a banking or corporate environment preferred)
    • Associates degree or beyond preferred

    • Must have a valid driver’s license

    Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color, and the ability to adjust focus.

    The associate must be able to travel frequently by themselves within the US, including overnight, and via automobile and air.
