Security Specialist administers, coordinates, and evaluates security programs that support the strategy, policies, and standards established for the physical safety of all visitors, employees, or customers to the organization's facilities and the security of property and assets. Compiles data and analyzes results of audits, inspections, daily logs, and incident reports to assess security vulnerabilities, measure program effectiveness, and identify the need for additional resources. Being a Security Specialist coordinates any required security clearance processing or investigative research for employees or job candidates with applicable entities. Assists with the development of training, education programs, and communications on security policies and topics to ensure staff is prepared for potential security issues, crisis response, disaster recovery, evacuation, workplace violence, and other emergency events. Additionally, Security Specialist monitors communications and stays informed about local, state, provincial, or federal security-related information, directives, and events. May coordinate or assist with investigations and critical event responses in coordination with law enforcement and other officials. Understands law enforcement methods, tactics, and procedures. Typically requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent. Typically reports to a head of a unit/department. The Security Specialist occasionally directed in several aspects of the work.     Job Summary: Protects bank assets, employees, and customers from criminal activity. Maintains a professional, cooperative attitude while serving internal/external customers. Makes on-site decisions and notifies supervision when required. Confidentiality and attention to detail are essential. Maintains uniforms in accordance with INTRUST Bank's Uniform Dress Code and projects a professional appearance. Promotes an environment of teamwork within the department and across the bank. Represents INTRUST Bank in all they do in the community and is focused on the development of new business relationships. Must maintain strict standards of confidentiality and perform duties in a manner supporting INTRUST’s character qualities.

    Essential Functions:

    • All expectations described in the job description’s essential functions are necessary to be successful in this role, performed with or without a reasonable accommodation.
    • Monitors proprietary alarm system for hold up, duress, fire, intrusion, etc.
    • Ensures proper procedures are being followed by branch facilities to ensure safety of employees and customers.
    • Notifies appropriate agency when assistance is required.
    • Patrols the premises of downtown campus (including exterior perimeter) for fire detection, suspicious persons, safety hazards, unsecured assets, vandalism, trespasser, and any other criminal activity.
    • Maintains a working knowledge of digital recorders and all other CCTV equipment functions for comprehensive monitoring of bank property and assets.
    • Intervenes in hostile situations involving verbal, emotional and/or physical abuse on bank property. This may include handling incidents involving irate customers, employees, domestic disputes, and workplace violence.
    • Serves as first responder for all bank related emergencies.
    • Coordinates and/or assists in emergency situations such as medical emergencies, bank robberies and evacuations due to severe weather, fire, or bomb threats. Mobilize the Emergency Response Team when necessary.

    Education and Experience: High school diploma or equivalent required. Military, security, or law enforcement experience helpful, but not required.

    Required Skills and Knowledge: Requires excellent communication skills; oral and written. Must be available and willing to work varied shifts, weekends, holidays, and occasional overtime. Computer experience and working knowledge of Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, Outlook and Access are required.

    Required Licenses and/or Certifications: Current and valid Driver’s License. Serves as a first responder for all emergencies (First Aid/CPR certified). Must be able to participate, meet requirements and obtain certification in First Aid, CPR and personal protection (defense tactics) training and must complete Security training (Defensive tactics, use of force, control holds and escorts, hand cuffing, baton and chemical spray certified). Must be able to meet qualifications to obtain a private security permit as specified in Wichita Municipal Codes.

    Physical Demands: Must be able to lift, carry, push and pull objects frequently with weight up to 100 pounds. Must be able to conduct routine security functions including, but not limited to, standing stationary post, walking patrols, climbing of stairs, sitting, stooping, crouching, crawling and kneeling. The physical demands necessary for this role should be performed with or without a reasonable accommodation.

    Working Conditions: Office, bank facilities, and outside weather environment. Outdoor patrolling of bank premises and working in areas under construction is required. Must be able to tolerate any possible weather conditions (i.e. extreme heat or cold, snow, rain, etc.).
