SAFETY SENSITIVE POSITION
This is a safety sensitive position; all team members have the responsibility for their own safety and those around them. Per company policy, being under the influence is not permitted while on Company premises. Team member must be clear minded and diligent while operating machinery.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
• Under limited supervision, will perform sewing functions to assemble product pieces. • Must be able to receive the product pieces and learn the order of pieces, draw threads through needles and adjust machine functions to meet the requirements of the sewing project and return product to workflow.
o Level 1: Assemble part of any product using one machine, quality level of 97% and productions efficiency levels of 80% efficiency within 90-day probationary period; must assume personal responsibility for achieving quality goals and demonstrate continuous improvement towards achieving 100% efficiency on assigned work within 6 months.
o Level 2: Must be able to assemble products using 2 to 3 different sewing machines or as many as needed to produce all products within the department, consistently achieve quality level of 97% and productions efficiency levels of 95% without refresher training; must be able to repair sewing work as needed to support daily production goals; able to share and demonstrate best practice sewing methods with other sewers.
o Level 3: Must be fully cross-trained, able to assemble any product using any machine in the sewing area, consistently achieve quality level of 97% and productions efficiency levels of 105% without refresher training; must be able to repair sewing work as needed to support daily production goals; able to share and demonstrate best practice sewing methods with other sewers.
o Sewing Lead: Must have basic knowledge of all job functions within the department and be able to assist in all areas as needed. Must count production work and report to supervisor. Must be able to train new sewing personnel. The Team Lead will communicate with Supervisor to assist with problem solving and offer suggestions for continuous improvement, setup daily workflow and assist department personnel in solving any work in process problems. The Team Lead is responsible for knowing the location of all items within the department and can assist with locating them. The Team Lead is a working leader who fills a production role daily. Must fill in for Supervisor at meetings as needed. Must be able to assist with inventory. Will assist manager in handling daily personnel issues.
AUTHORITY:
All personnel are responsible for quality and therefore have the authority to stop production, if necessary, to correct quality problems.
SKILLS REQUIRED
PREVIOUS WORK EXPERIENCE
1 to 3 months industrial sewing and/or training preferred but not required.
