Responsibilities

• Design low/medium voltage switchgear, motor control centers (MCCs), and associated mechanical layouts and assembly drawings.
• Create and update mechanical approval drawings based on design reviews and customer feedback.
• Utilize product knowledge and technical expertise to independently solve straightforward problems.
• Provide technical support to the fabrication and assembly shop as required.
• Use AutoCAD and/or PTC Creo/SolidWorks to develop detailed drawings.
• Collaborate with Electrical Engineers to provide input for project documentation.
• Prepare and release mechanical manufacturing drawings, including sheet steel, structural steel, and copper part designs, along with bills of materials.
• Interpret bills of materials and electrical drawings to create comprehensive switchgear layouts.
• Develop and release sheet metal fabrication details, such as flat patterns and bend profiles, to support manufacturing.
• Ensure timely release of drawings to align with production schedules.
• Support manufacturing activities, including welding and assembly, as needed.
• Offer technical assistance to sales teams and distributors to uphold quality customer service standards.
• Align with and actively contribute to quality improvement initiatives.
• Stay updated on industry trends and technical developments.
• Design sheet metal enclosures for electrical equipment following ANSI/NEMA standards for indoor and outdoor installations.
• Perform sizing and bracing calculations for copper busbar systems to ensure compliance with specifications and standards.
• Develop assembly, sub-assembly, and weldment drawings, including detailed part documentation and bills of materials for low-voltage switchgear systems.
• Prepare equipment layouts, including plan, elevation, side, and cross-sectional views.
• Create detailed component arrangement drawings based on project requirements.
• Perform other assigned duties as needed.

Required Experience and Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience, or a minimum of five years of combined experience.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD (experience with Creo or similar software is a plus).
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects and make critical decisions in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills for clear interaction with internal and external stakeholders.
• Problem-solving abilities to develop creative, practical solutions and adapt proven methods to new challenges.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and collaboratively with teams.
• Competence in reading technical drawings, understanding project specifications, and conveying technical details effectively.
