Job Overview

As a Shipping Specialist I, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the efficient and accurate handling of outgoing shipments. You will be responsible for various tasks related to packaging, labeling, and dispatching products to customers or other destinations. Attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment are essential for success in this role.

Reports To

This position reports to the Shipping Manager.

ResponsibilitiesGeneral

• Prepare shipments for outbound transportation according to company procedures and guidelines.
• Ensure all outgoing packages are properly labeled, packaged, and documented.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the shipping area.
• Collaborate with other departments to coordinate shipping schedules and priorities.
• Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines while handling and moving packages.
• Coordinating with Other Departments to Obtain Required Parts for Orders
• Preparing work area for next shipping day (Making boxes, stocking shelves, pulling orders)

Packaging

• Pack items securely to prevent damage during transit.
• Select appropriate packaging materials based on the nature and size of the items being shipped.
• Verify the accuracy of product quantities and specifications before packaging.

Labeling and Documentation

• Generate shipping labels and documents using computer systems or software.
• Ensure all required documentation, such as packing slips and customs forms, are completed accurately and attached to shipments.

Dispatch and Tracking:

• Coordinate with carriers or logistics partners to schedule pickups and deliveries.
• Track shipments using tracking systems and provide updates to relevant stakeholders as needed.
• Investigate and resolve any shipping-related issues or discrepancies.

Qualifications, Physical Requirements & Skills

• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills
• Candidates must demonstrate the ability to perform basic mathematical calculations accurately.
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
• Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Clean DMV Record with valid Driver's License
• Capacity to adapt to changing priorities and work under pressure.
• Ability to lift and move packages weighing up to [insert weight] pounds.
• Stamina to stand, walk, and perform physical tasks for extended periods.

Education & Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Prior experience in shipping, logistics, or a related field preferred.
• Familiarity with shipping software and systems is a plus.
• Ability to operate warehouse equipment such as forklifts or pallet jacks is desirable.
• Basic understanding of or ability to quickly learn company product codes and terminology.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $18.50 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
