Shipping Specialist jobs in Providence, RI
Shipping Specialist prepares shipping documentation and processes orders. Coordinates the preparation and organization of bills of lading, packing slips, invoices, and required export licenses or compliance documents. Being a Shipping Specialist utilizes enterprise resource planning (ERP) or other systems to record and track all shipping transactions. Troubleshoots shipping delays or changes with carriers and communicates to customers. Additionally, Shipping Specialist ensures shipping protocols and documentation meet required regulatory requirements for hazardous materials (DOT/HAZMAT) or special handling. Investigates and resolves shipping non-conformance. Requires a high school diploma. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Shipping Specialist works under moderate supervision. Responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Learn all aspects of the shipping department's operations, including material handling, packaging, and shipping procedures.
- Assist in packaging and labeling products for domestic and international shipments using FedEx and UPS.
- Receive incoming shipments, inspecting them for accuracy and completeness, and recording relevant information.
- Organize and maintain shipping and receiving records and documentation.
- Operate material handling equipment, such as forklifts and pallet jacks, safely and efficiently.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure accurate and on-time shipments.
- Assist in maintaining a clean and organized shipping and receiving area.
Working hours: 7:00 AM - 4:00PM
Requirements/Skills:- Basic computer skills.
- Attention to detail.
- Team player.
- Downtime projects.
- Attendance is a critical function
Education:
High School
Experience:
1-4 years
Qualifications:- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous shipping experience.
- FedEx/UPS familiarity.
