Shop Supervisor jobs in Cedar Rapids, IA

Responsibilities:

• Ensure the production schedule is executed as per planning requirements in machine shop and steel processing work centres
• Investigate mechanical failures or unexpected maintenance problems
• Operates / programs CNC Machines, lasers, press brakes and plasmas; measures and positions material in assigned machine
• Programs / operates machine to control speed, material feed and path of cut as well as making sure machine is set up correctly
• Monitors/controls and maintains M3 ERP system; including clocking through jobs
• Co-ordinate and allocate work to employees in accordance with production plans and work orders
• Ensure consumable control requirements are closely followed. Request equipment, materials and consumables as required within limits of authority.
• Provide leadership and training to all workers in the machine shop and steel processing area
• Be an active team member providing ideas to improve department structures and procedures to increase productivity
• Carry out necessary check and quality assurance
• Monitor the use of materials and care of equipment and plant to minimize waste and damage
• Ensure housekeeping is ongoing by maintaining a clean and safe workplace.
• Works with Supervisors and departments to implement the company’s policies and goals
• Supports the Product Planning Manager to motivate a team of employees, reviews employee performance and manages performance where required
• Assists in stock takes as directed
• Any other duties as required or requested by management

Requirements:

• 2-5 years of leadership experience in a manufacturing environment
• Strong understanding of CNC and relevant machine operating and programming
• Excellent problem-solving skills
• Ability to read drawings; job specifications/ instructions
• Excellent time management skills and the ability to multitask and prioritize work
