POSITION SUMMARY: The Media Specialist will work with the rest of the Comanche Language Department staff and consultants to coordinate audiovisual needs for the language and culture classes and events to create audio, video, and multimedia informational materials in physical, digital, and online formats. Media Specialist will maintain a positive learning and work environment beneficial to the well-being of all workers, learners, and other stakeholders.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Coordinates audiovisual needs for language classes, culture classes, and events.
- Documents the experiences of the participants in culture and language classes through still photography, videography, participant journals, and interviews, etc.
- Collects, organizes, and make accessible information and resources for language and culture classes and events. Including, but not limited to, field notes, logs, participant journals, etc.
- Creates audio, video, and multimedia informational materials in physical, digital, and online formats in accordance with curriculum and learning objectives.
- Collects, organizes, and make accessible information and resources.
- Researches and develops approaches to communicate effectively with varied constituencies.
- Compiles and digitizes resources and materials from outdated formats and technology.
- Creates new avenues for gathering input and feedback from varied constituencies.
- Attend in-service trainings, staff meetings, and other trainings.
- Other duties as assigned
REPORTS TO: Will report to the Language Department Director. Does not possess supervisory responsibilities.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Must be able to lift lightweight objects, sit for long intervals, stand, bend, kneel, and stoop
WORK ENVIRONMENT: Office setting, all weather types, traveling by vehicle in state and out of state. The Language Depa1tment has multiple office and classroom spaces.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Most possess one (1) year work experience in Information Technology, Marketing, Communications, Graphic Design, Multimedia Development, or related field.
- Must possess a minimum of one (1) year work experience in audiovisual equipment such as still photography and videography.
- Track record of prior work or educational experience with Native language program, tribal government, or other relevant organization.
- Novice level of Comanche language preferred.
- Knowledge of Photoshop, Final Cut Pro, Audacity, or other media editing software.
- Ability to read, analyze, and summarize information and make it accessible.
- Ability to manage social media, online meetings, online surveys, and related public relations and marketing tools.
- Ability to effectively communicate with people fro diverse backgrounds, both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to work effectively with programs and co-worker.
- Must possess strong organizational and research skills.
- Must possess a Valid Driver's License and be insurable by the Comanche Nation's Motor Vehicle Policy.
- Must be able to pass a drug test. The Comanche Nation does not honor medical marijuana cards.
- Must be willing to submit to and pass a Federal Background Investigation, employment will be contingent upon successful completion.
