Small Engine Mechanic repairs fractional-horsepower gasoline engines used to power lawnmowers, garden tractors, and similar machines. Requires a high school diploma or its equivalent. Being a Small Engine Mechanic may have to complete an apprenticeship and/or formal training in area of specialty with 2-4 years of experience in the field or in a related area. Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Additionally, Small Engine Mechanic relies on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Evaluate, estimate and repair small engines, mostly Stihl brand. Sharpen chainsaw chains and lawnmower blades. Serve retail customers in a professional and pleasant manner to ensure excellent customer service. Join fellow associates in a daily effort to create a positive and safe work environment. Additional duties would include but are not limited to; loading customer vehicles, unloading inventory delivery trucks, stocking shelves, merchandising and occasional customer check-out at the register. Participate in weekly store meetings.
