    Compensation Overview
    The annual base salary range provided for this position is a nationwide market range and represents a broad range of salaries for this role across the country. The actual salary for this position will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role; the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; and other conditions of employment. As part of our comprehensive compensation and benefits program, employees are also eligible for performance-based cash incentive awards.

    $74,400.00 - $122,800.00

    What Is the Opportunity?
    Travelers has an open position for an incident responder and network security monitoring analyst in a 24x7x365 Security Operations Center (SOC). Responsibilities will include, but not be limited to network security analysis, monitoring and incident response.

    Security Analysts work with and learn from experienced security team leaders and use the latest technology to detect, analyze and limit intrusions and security events. Candidates must be willing to work in a 24x7x365 SOC environment, demonstrate intuitive problem-solving skills and be prepared to work evening and late night schedules.

    The SOC Analyst will work collaboratively to detect and respond to information security incidents, maintain and follow procedures for security event alerting, and participate in security investigations. The SOC Analyst will perform tasks including monitoring, research, classification, and analysis of security events that occur on the network or endpoint. The SOC Analyst should have familiarity with the principles of network and endpoint security, current threat and attack trends, and have a working knowledge of security principles such as defense in depth.

    The SOC Analyst must be competent to work at a high technical level and be capable of identifying threats, and threat vectors that cause security events.
    What Will You Do?
    • Support security monitoring and incident response functions across network, endpoint, and cloud.
    • Maintain records of security monitoring and incident response activities, utilizing case management and ticketing technologies.
    • Monitor and analyze Cybersecurity control platforms and Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) platform to identify anomalies and/or issues for remediation.
    • Recognize potential intrusion attempts and compromises thorough reviews and analysis of relevant event detail and investigation.
    • Evaluate/deconstruct suspicious content (e.g., obfuscated code) through open-source and vendor provided tools.
    • Develop and perform threat hunts based upon existing Security Information Event Management (SIEM) alerts.
    • Communicate to internal constituents regarding alert activity and investigation details relevant to Travelers network infrastructure, applications, operating systems, and environments.
    • Prepare briefings and/or reports of analysis performed, methodologies utilized, and outcomes.
    • Create and maintain standard operating procedures, runbooks/playbooks, and other similar documentation.
    • Perform end-of-shift hand-offs and create documentation for knowledge transfer to analysts entering shift duty.
    • Participate and/or Lead Knowledge transfer activities for new staff members or for new triage and response techniques.
    • Collaborate with Cybersecurity SOAR / Development / Detection team(s) to enhance existing response workflows.
    • Mentor and coach analyst peers by providing technical guidance, experience-based recommendations, and live-fire training.
    • Act as SOC Single Point of Contact for assigned on-call working hours.
    • Participate in Security and enterprise projects as assigned.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.
    What Will Our Ideal Candidate Have?
    • Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) discipline preferred.
    • Three years of relevant experience with Cybersecurity practices, processes, and Cybersecurity event investigation/resolution preferred.
    • Experience providing high-level support with a comprehensive knowledge of specific IS Security methodologies, processes, and software packages and a conceptual understanding of other IS Security procedures and policies preferred.

    What is a Must Have?
    • High school diploma or equivalent required.
    • One year of work experience within Computer Science or a related field required.
