  • Position Overview:

    This is a hands-on management position that works independently and as part of a team to achieve results. This position is responsible for managing Client's IT support services function including desktop and application support management and serves as a backup supporting Client's Electronic Health Record (EHR). Liaisons with HMS IT and Client's University IT (HUIT), as necessary, to meet Client customer support needs.

    Support service function touches all aspects of the organization including clinical, research, instructional/educational and administrative domains. Highly detail oriented, this person is able to identify, recommend to management, and implement (as necessary) solutions to improve efficiency within the Support Services function and is capable of leading IT projects with project team members from all levels of the school, HMS, and HUIT. Produces written documentation to support internal needs and regulatory requirements. The IT Support Services Manager will abide by and follow the Client's University IT technical standards, policies, and Code of Conduct.

    Client Services: As a hands-on support technician, interacts regularly with end users (faculty, staff, researchers, and students) to maintain the smooth operations of the HSDM IT environment. Acts as a key support person of the hardware and desktop applications that keep the school and clinical management systems functioning. Must be able to assess situations, prioritize support needs, and work on multiple competing issues effectively.

    Applications administration: Acts as full backup for the Client's Dental Center's axiUm electronic health record and ensure seamless end-user support. As backup, will work with Clinical Applications Director on maintaining and supporting the axiUm system, balancing and prioritizing clinic needs with system capabilities, performance of upgrades and customization of the application; analyzes and resolves database performance, capacity, replication and distributed data issues.

    Administration/Liaison: Act as principle liaison with internal customers and out-sourced service providers. Develop solutions to complex problems where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of multiple factors across multiple platforms. Works with the HSDM IT department and HMS Client Services Representative to ensure that all hardware/software support needs are met. Provides support services throughout HSDM by identifying hardware and software malfunctions, developing solutions and reporting issues to the appropriate department and or vendor.     System Maintenance/Reporting: Test, configure, and provide support for hardware and software. Responsible for HSDM asset and systems management, and supports the implementation and ongoing management/maintenance of LANDesk/Casper throughout the school. A hands-on manager, this position is responsible for closing tickets themselves as well, and assists the team in performing general support, desktop application upgrades, and software installations. Stay current with new technologies and recommend endpoint solutions

    Project Management: Participate in or lead projects and provide support and training for complex applications.

    Supervisory Skills: Responsible for managing and training, a small team consisting of direct and indirect support technicians. Oversees the completion of projects and efficiently triages service tickets ensuring tickets are prioritized, assigned, and resolved quickly and professionally by the support technicians. Manages the IT Support Services team schedule and ensures appropriate coverage. Approves timesheets, provides regular feedback, and performs annual performance reviews for staff. Ensures the department runs smoothly and customer support needs are met. Keeps immediate supervisor informed and escalates issues as necessary.

    Basic Qualifications: (Candidates must meet basic requirements to be considered for this position)

    Bachelor's degree, or equivalent professional experience. Must have 5 years of IT experience resolving computer hardware and software issues, and significant knowledge of Windows/Mac and desktop applications.
