Software Systems Engineer develops, modifies and codes software systems programming applications. Responsible for resolving less complicated problems relying on the established software systems. Being a Software Systems Engineer has basic knowledge of the principles of existing software systems development. Troubleshoots and fixes minor problems regarding current procedures or systems. Additionally, Software Systems Engineer requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a supervisor. To be a Software Systems Engineer typically requires 0-2 years of related experience. Engineers perform maintenance and repair work on vessels. They will need to possess basic computer skills and also be able to clearly communicate with coworkers/supervisors/external customers and/or contractors.
Engineers will be expected to use and follow the policies, procedures, and regulations of the CTC Responsible Carrier Program, United States Coast Guard, Tanker Management and Self-Assessment (TMSA), and Ship Inspection Report Program (SIRE). Trainee engineers are expected to use and follow all of CTC’s safety policies and procedures and to have all current training in the Learning Management System (LMS) assigned to them completed by their due date. Engineers will be expected to attend the CTC annual engineering training sessions as well.
Tasks may be performed in all weather conditions, inside and outside of the vessel, and day and night. Work is performed on rotating shifts, 6 hours on/6 hours off while on a schedule of 20 days on the vessel and 10 days off.
