Being a Soil Scientist may require a bachelor's degree in agricultural sciences or a related field with at least 5 years of work experience. May direct the work of a small group of employees. Additionally, Soil Scientist relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Typically reports to a senior manager and may be considered the lead for a specific area or unit. The Facilities Division is hiring a Soil Conservation Representative that performs beginning level work in providing assistance with overall administration and development of the Integrated Training Area Management ensuring optimum training environment while minimizing and mitigating damage to natural resources.
Job duties include but are not limited to the following:- Assists in planning & coordination of all four components of the ITAM Program, Land Condition Trend Analysis, Training Requirements Integration, Land Rehabilitation & Maintenance and Environmental Awareness;
- Monitors training area use and trends and make recommendations to the Site Manager on future usage and rehabilitation initiatives;
- Assists in plan, design and management of land cleaning, erosion control and re-vegetation projects;
- Operates a variety of light, motorized vehicles & equipment such as truck, forklift, farm tractors with a variety of implements, bobcats and bucket loaders;
- Operates various power tools chainsaws, power blowers, trimmers;
- Performs light maintenance on equipment;
- Assists in managing Fishing and hunting events.
Minimum RequirementsEDUCATION: Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree in agriculture

Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: NONE
Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: Agricultural experience will substitute for the college education on a year for year basis.
