Soil Scientist studies, investigates, and conducts experiments on different soil/plant types to determine use capabilities of soils, and effects of alternative practices on soil productivity. Applies a wide range concepts, practices, and procedures from two or more specialized fields of science, such as agronomy, soil science, forestry, or agriculture. Being a Soil Scientist may require a bachelor's degree in agricultural sciences or a related field with at least 5 years of work experience. May direct the work of a small group of employees. Additionally, Soil Scientist relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Typically reports to a senior manager and may be considered the lead for a specific area or unit. We are looking to hire a district technician! Job duties and responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to working with landowners to establish conservation practices, assist them with state cost-share programs, field surveying, conservation practice design, follow-up & design check-out. Clerical work, basic communication skills and computer skills are required. Must have the ability and be willing to work outdoors in all types of weather and on uneven terrain. Applicant must have a valid driver's license, a high school diploma/GED and be able to pass a background check.
