**Overview:**
The Biogeochemical Sciences Branch at Cold Regions Research and Engineering Laboratory (CRREL) has need for Scientist Level I task support to accomplish microbial synthetic biologyexperimentation. We are seeking a Scientist to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for scientific research and possess expertise in areas such as molecular biology, genetics, data analysis.
**Responsibilities:**
The Scientist will provide supplementary resources to the Government to successfully conduct various research and development projects for the Biogeochemical Sciences Branch (BSB). With a focus on Earth’s cold regions, BSB addresses military readiness and public needs under all of Earth's environmental and terrain state conditions by understanding the impact and processes of biochemical interactions of substances. Work is initiated in terms of long-range research objectives, requirements, and expected completion dates. The Contractor is expected to use initiative and resourcefulness in planning and carrying out tasks. The Scientist is expected to utilize experience and judgment in independently resolving technical issues, as well as laboratory and field instrumentation and equipment problems. The Contractor interacts with the researchers to determine details of the work, which may result in modifications of various aspects of the study/test. Work is reviewed technically through quality of data produced.
**Requirements:**
The Level I Engineer or Scientist is required to have a college or university degree in the area of required expertise. Individuals filling this position may be recent college graduates or have graduated by the time contract performance is required. The individual must possess knowledge, skills and abilities (KSA) in report writing, technical presentations, laboratory or field experiment conduct, data collection, reduction and analysis. Computational modeling skills are desirable.
