Sommelier manages the daily activities necessary for maintenance and promotion of the organization's wine collection. Identifies and purchases wines for the organization. Being a Sommelier monitors the conditions of the wine cellar, ensuring optimal storage. Works with the kitchen staff to develop food and wine pairings. Additionally, Sommelier recommends and serves wine to guests. May require an associate degree or equivalent. May possess or be working towards certification. Typically reports to a head of a unit/department. The Sommelier works independently within established procedures associated with the specific job function.     Gracie’s Sommelier ensures the excellence, creativity, brand promise, and profitability of the wine program. The ideal candidate is an educator for Gracie’s Front of House team. This person will set Gracie's Wine service standards to ensure that the team is well-informed and educated, well-practiced, and committed to providing the high level of service that Gracie’s Ventures prides itself on. We are looking for candidates who are service experts with a zeal for wine. This role would be integrated with the utmost knowledge of our steps of service, showcasing what it is to be a role model and lead. This position would also have the potential to partake in our sister Parisian-inspired eatery and Neighborhood Wine Bar for shifts and collaborative opportunities.

    Above all, this role is expected to foster a positive working environment and create genuine guest interactions and memorable dining experiences.

    • Hands-on involvement with the leadership team and front/back-of-house operations as it pertains to Gracie’s Sommelier

    Hiring Requirements

    • 3 Years of experience in the hospitality industry, with 1 year in Beverage service
    • Minimum Associate's degree from an accredited university in Beverage Management, Food Service, or similar field
    • TIPS or Serv Safe Alcohol certification up to date
    • Level 1 or Sommelier Certificate or similar accreditation

    Key Responsibilities

    • Thoughtfully plan and educate on the wine program per Hospitality & Wine Leader’s discretion and lesson outlook
    • Advise and establish continuous growth and editing of our wine list, coordinate prints, Upserve POS stocks and any BTG selections on the snack menu.
    • Actively seek opportunities to connect with guests during service periods by being present in the MDR on the floor and acting as a SOMM on the busiest evenings of the week.
    • Assist in coordinating beverage series events and lead lesson plans for the restaurant when appropriate.
    • Help design and organize education programs and initiatives that assist the leadership teams in educating the team (e.g., lineup tastings, regular testing, purveyor visits, educational trips, etc.).
    • Work with the Hospitality & Wine Leader to maintain the profitability of the wine department and maintain weekly and monthly budgetary goals.
    • Establish positive and productive relationships with vendors and sales representatives, displaying decorum and respect for Gracie’s mission and values.
    • Continuously taste, research, and remain active & relevant in the industry
    • Conduct monthly beverage inventory and organization of storage promptly, following the direction of the Hospitality & Wine Leader

    Compensation

    Part Time (Under 30 Hrs./Week)

    Hourly Non-Exempt, $25/hr. Gratuity

    *We would also support any leader in developing their education towards any near future SOMM or WSET certification and cover those costs based on performance 90 Days In. Also, at that point, we would be open to discussing a monthly bonus structure based on bottles sold each month or quarter to continue sales motivation. Another perk is that this leader could purchase wine via wholesale pricing through our beverage. Reps, for personal use.
