Job Title: Lounge Supervisor

Job Summary:
This position is primarily responsible for the Lounge, Bar/Liquor and all other beverage management. The position ensures an exceptional dining experience for guests. This position manages and oversees training of Service Staff Members Bartender/Server) and ensures a clean, safe and inviting environment. The incumbent is responsible for maintaining a high quality of service and atmosphere while overseeing costs, pricing and profitability, with an emphasis on maintaining management of legal beverages for the hotel. The incumbent works closely with the Supervisors with regards to overall food and beverage management (guest experience and costs/profitability) for the hotel.
Responsibilities, Duties & Accountabilities:
The core, critical and essential work duties, functions and responsibilities of the position are as follows:
- The Lounge operations, management of Direct Reports and ensuring the guests have a superior dining experience
- Works with Events team to coordinate one-two events i.e. Beer/Wine Dinner etc. and coordinate in Lounge events with staff.
- Ensures the highest standards of quality, service and merchandising for the Lounge Dining Room/Bar
- Ensures guests are treated with the utmost and timely respect and professional courtesy, from the start to the end of the service (Payment of bill and thanking them for choosing us as their dining experience)
- Trains and develops staff on marketing and service of daily offerings, regardless if fine or casual dining, and works with them to ensure all guests are treated with exceptional customer service (Example: Immediate offering of beverages, appetizers, offering the highlights of the daily lounge menu, checking back to ensure satisfaction in food/beverages quality and ensuring table is cleared, take-away left-overs are boxed in the kitchen, and desserts are marketed and presented)
- Manages and trains Direct Reports, responsible for employee performance and development, mentoring and addressing employee relations issues
- Works closely with the other areas to ensure only the highest quality food is delivered and presented to guests
- To perform each Direct Reports’ position’s requirements for coverage during absences and continuous training for the staff members)
- To courteously address with tact and professionalism all customer complaints, concerns and issues, and trains Direct Reports to handle in the same appropriate manner
- Ensures all Direct Reports have the appropriate food handling and health/safety training and permits and continuously trains on proper, hygienic and safe food handling practices
- Responsibility for purchasing, strict inventory control and protocols, legal requirements and guidance and training of staff on all legal beverages (liquor, beer, wine, spirits) and Dining Room/Bar Supplies, providing leadership with routine results reporting and upon request
- Maintains strict control of Age 21 protocols for staff and guests; trains Direct Reports by example, to limit problems and liability related to customers’ excessive drinking by taking appropriate steps such as persuading customers to stop drinking and/or by ordering taxies or other transportation for patrons
- Ensures an exceptionally clean environment by cross-training all Direct Reports in regards to bussing and general cleaning services, as all staff is responsible to ensure a clean Lounge and experience for guests
- Ensures continuous training and staff knowledge of safe and healthy practices for food handling and preparation and the current required food handling permits
- Ensures proper payment policies, processes and controls are trained and followed
- Ensures all inventory, with an emphasis on legal beverages, is routinely conducted and accurate results are prepared for leadership’s review
- Other projects and duties as assigned
- Regular and routine attendance and punctuality is required
- Availability and willingness to work evenings, week-ends and holidays
- The following physical demands are requirements and must be met in order for the successful performance of the job position: This position requires the incumbent to speak, hear, see, stand for long periods of time, walk frequently and use full reach and range of motion in arms, hands and fingers, with continual use of manual dexterity and gross motor skills with frequent use of bi-manual dexterity and fine motor skills, to bend, stoop, kneel and lift (floor to waist – up to 25 lbs., waist to shoulders – up to 20lbs.), carry, push, pull and frequently climb stairs
Travel Requirements if Applicable:
Position Requirements and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Hotel/Hospitality Management, Management/Accounting/Finance or Business-Related field of study or inhouse experience in Liu of Degree.
- Minimum 6 years working in Food and Beverage in a management capacity
- Minimum 6-8 years’ experience in the management of employees, with strong leadership skills and the ability to manage and train others in hotel operations and guest relations
- Minimum 4 years working experience with beverage costs, inventory controls, policies and standard in accordance with state laws
- Demonstrated above-average knowledge of Dinging, Food and Beverage, Legal Beverages and Bar/Lounge related operations
- Demonstrated above-average knowledge of Legal Beverages (liquor, beer, wine, spirits), with regards to brands (for customer suggestions/pairings with food), stocking/inventory needs, costs vs. sales/profit margins, and security controls of the products
- Demonstrated computer skills, preferably working with Microsoft Office products, Hotel Systems and programs and the ability to successfully navigate and maintain current knowledge and skills working with technology.
- Demonstrated customer service experience working with the general public and the ability to tactfully and professionally address public concerns and complaints
- Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships with other employees, exercising tact and professionalism in all matters
- Demonstrated professional demeanor and excellent oral and written communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to apply strategic business logic while making sound decisions under pressure
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and use discretion in dealing with sensitive information, exercising considerable discretion and good judgment, demonstrated conscientious and dependable
