Special Investigations Unit Director oversees the operations for conducting thorough investigations. Develops the strategies for the cross-functional detection and elimination of fraudulent behavior. Being a Special Investigations Unit Director prepares investigative reports and analyses that pertinent to evidence obtained during investigations. May coordinate with outside sources such as law enforcement agencies, and external audit, etc. Requires a bachelor's degree. Additionally, Special Investigations Unit Director typically reports to top management. The Special Investigations Unit Director manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Special Investigations Unit Director typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.     Position:  Clerk – Special Education Department

     

    Job Description: A Special Education Clerk is responsible for maintaining accurate and organized records for students receiving special education services, inputting and updating required data into the school's information system, maintaining accurate records to ensure compliance with timelines, and supporting Team Chairs and Supervisors in the daily matters related to special education services.

     

    Required Qualifications:

    1. Successful secretarial experience within a public or private organization's management office or equivalent experience.
    2. Demonstrated experience with software applications (i.e. Microsoft Office, SIS, MUNIS, etc)
    3. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with others and to maintain confidentiality at all times.
    4. Demonstrated ability to prepare official correspondence, maintain filing system for records and files
    5. Ability to take initiative and work collaboratively with others within an educational office environment
    6. Ability to maintain any relevant forms needed by the department

     

    Performance Responsibilities:

    1. Work with software applications including SIS, MUNIS, MS Office and Googledocs as necessary.
    2. Prepare student, staff, and school reports as required by federal and state agencies.
    3. Work collaboratively with personnel and support staff addressing any clerical needs of the office/department.
    4. Collect and maintain necessary data, including staff and student data, for the functionality of the office/department.
    5. Prepare correspondence and documents, as requested by supervisor
    6. Maintain accurate and organized special education files
    7. Maintain accurate tracking spreadsheets - share with team chairs and supervisors.
    8. Pull files for team chairs and special education staff and maintain an accurate access log
    9. File all returned paperwork within a timely manner
    10. Mail all documents in the parent’s native language
    11. Run 30/45 day calendar for team chairs and supervisors before the start of the school year
    12. Run special education roster with annual review and re-evaluation dates for team chair and supervisors before the start of the school year, adding new students as needed
    13. Follow process for rejected or partially rejected IEPs and send information to DESE according to timelines
    14. Assist in the coordination of ESY as directed by Special Education Supervisors
    15. Process and complete all records requests from school, families, or outside agencies on behalf of families.
    16. Develop files for new & transfer-in students, scan active IEP, create a draft in SIS, notify appropriate staff.
    17. Contact sending school districts for additional records for new students as needed
    18. Accurately complete required fields in SIS information management system.
    19. Any other related clerical responsibilities deemed necessary by supervisor

     

    The Superintendent of Schools reserves the right to waive a position qualification or determine that there is an acceptable alternative to that qualification. If the Superintendent intends to waive a qualification, such intent will be shared with the Fall River School Committee.

     

    Reports To: Immediate Supervisor

    Terms of Employment: Salary and benefits according to the Fall River Public Schools clerical contract.

    2023-2024 Range starting at $32,758 to $37,282
