Specialty Pharmacy Technician assists a registered pharmacist with support activities and processes required to dispense high dollar/specialty medications (e.g. Oncology, Multiple Sclerosis). Collects, inputs, and verifies prescription, refill, and patient information. Being a Specialty Pharmacy Technician receives and stocks incoming supplies. May be expected to perform some clerical duties relating to the department. Additionally, Specialty Pharmacy Technician requires a high school diploma. May require Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT). Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Specialty Pharmacy Technician works under moderate supervision. Gaining or has attained full proficiency in a specific area of discipline. To be a Specialty Pharmacy Technician typically requires 1-3 years of related experience. (Copyright 2025 Salary.com)

Fulfillment Pharmacy Technician Functions:- Dispense and package medications under the direction of the on-duty Pharmacist.
- Ensure that the pharmacy is in compliance with all applicable accreditation standards to maintain accreditation status.
- Ensure that all prescriptions are billed in accordance with Medicare/DMEPOS regulations and that all required information is documented on the hard copy prescription.
- Assist in resolving client/patient concerns and complaints.
- Assume on-call responsibilities in accordance with Company guidelines.
- Report product incidents as required in accordance with Company policy.
- Participate in surveys conducted by authorized inspection agencies.
- Participate in the Company's Quality Improvement (QI)/Quality Assurance Program as requested by the QI Coordinators or Managers.
- Participate in Company committees when requested.
- Pursue continuing education programs appropriate to job responsibilities.
- Perform other duties as assigned by Pharmacy Director (Supervising Pharmacist) and Clinical Staff Pharmacist(s).
- Packing, shipping, receiving and labeling tasks in association with the Company’s shipping operation.
- Provide great customer service while maintaining a courteous, professional demeanor at all times.
Fulfillment Pharmacy Technician Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:- High School Diploma or GED, required. Associates Degree or equivalent program from a two-year college or technical school, or certificate program in pharmacy or healthcare, preferred.
- Minimum 1 year of pharmacy technician experience, required. 2-4 years of experience in retail or specialty pharmacy, preferred.
- Proficient in data entry, verbal skills, computer skills and the ability to learn the department’s software system.
