Specialty Pharmacy Technician assists a registered pharmacist with support activities and processes required to dispense high dollar/specialty medications (e.g. Oncology, Multiple Sclerosis). Collects, inputs, and verifies prescription, refill, and patient information. Being a Specialty Pharmacy Technician receives and stocks incoming supplies. May be expected to perform some clerical duties relating to the department. Additionally, Specialty Pharmacy Technician requires a high school diploma. May require Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT). Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Specialty Pharmacy Technician works under moderate supervision. Under the direct supervision of the Pharmacy Leader, performs assigned duties in support of the Pharmacy Department with an emphasis on accuracy, timeliness, and patient safety.
Primary duties include processing of prescriptions, billing and pharmacy inventory.
Duties also include, but not limited to: cash register operation, processing of wholesale drug orders, delivery of medications within facility, and routine clerical duties.
Requirements:
Current National Certification Registration preferred but employer willing to train.
