Specialty Pharmacy Technician assists a registered pharmacist with support activities and processes required to dispense high dollar/specialty medications (e.g. Oncology, Multiple Sclerosis). Collects, inputs, and verifies prescription, refill, and patient information. Being a Specialty Pharmacy Technician receives and stocks incoming supplies. May be expected to perform some clerical duties relating to the department. Additionally, Specialty Pharmacy Technician requires a high school diploma. May require Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT). Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Specialty Pharmacy Technician works under moderate supervision. Cedars-Sinai Medical Center is a nonprofit hospital located in the heart of Los Angeles, California. Our Pharmacy Department consists of approximately 450 staff members who provide comprehensive pharmacy services, both inpatient and outpatient. As a per diem Specialty Pharmacy Technician at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, California, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safe and effective preparation, distribution, and control of medications, including specialty medications. Under the supervision of a pharmacist, you will perform your duties independently and participate in departmental programs.
Educational Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent
License/Certification/Registration Requirements:
Current California Pharmacy Technician license in good standing

Ability to speak, read, and write in English
Strong math skills for calculations involving ratios, proportions, and percentages
Basic computer skills to complete assigned tasks
Physical demands:
Frequent standing, walking, bending, and reaching; occasional sitting, pushing, and pulling; lifting of materials up to 40 pounds for distances up to 10 feet
Responsiveness to auditory alarms and communication devices
Sufficient mobility to access equipment, patients, and other customers
Able to read information on medication labels
