Speech and Language Therapy Supervisor supervises staff members, identifies needs in program planning, and assists in program development. Identifies needs in program planning and provides speech and language therapy services. Being a Speech and Language Therapy Supervisor assists department head in managing daily clinical operations of the department. Assumes responsibility for the department in the absence of the department head. Additionally, Speech and Language Therapy Supervisor may require a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Speech and Language Therapy Supervisor supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/ production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. Has some authority for personnel actions. To be a Speech and Language Therapy Supervisor typically requires 3-5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor.
