The Speech Pathologist evaluates speech and language skills as related to educational, medical, social, and psychological factors. Diagnoses and treats speech and language problems, and engages in scientific study of human communication. Being a Speech Pathologist is responsible for assessing, diagnosing, and treating speech, language, cognitive, communication, voice, swallowing, fluency, and other related disorders. Plans, directs, or conducts rehabilitative treatment programs to restore communicative efficiency of individuals with communication problems of organic and nonorganic etiology. In addition, Speech Pathologist maintains records, monitors progress, and counsels patients and their family members. May require a certificate of clinical competence in speech-language pathology (CCC). Requires a master's degree of speech-language pathology. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. Speech Pathologist's years of experience requirement may be unspecified. Speech Waves is looking for a knowledgeable, caring, enthusiastic, and innovative speech- language pathologist. The caseload consists of pediatrics patients ranging from ages 18 months-25 years old. Speech disorders typically treated are articulation disorders, phonological disorders, fluency disorders, and Childhood Apraxia of Speech. Language disorders include receptive and expressive language delays, auditory processing and social skills/pragmatics. Feeding and swallowing therapy is also offered. Patients with Autism, sensory processing disorders, ADHD, and developmental delays are typically treated.
Seeking a therapist who is flexible with 35- 40 hours per week. Ideal therapist should be able to implement a treatment and home education program. 1 year of experience with pediatrics preferred.
