The Sponsored Programs Director manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Sponsored Programs Director typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.   • Job Summary:

    This person will coordinate programs, courses, contracts, and partnerships between K-12 school districts and Indian Hills Community College as guided by the Iowa Department of Education.  The Director of High School Programs will work with academic deans and program faculty within the college to organize courses, programs, and schedules for high school students to obtain college credit and explore career pathways.  This individual will administer public and private grant funded programs and coordinate any activities that meet established grant criterion.

    Minimum Job Requirements:

    • Bachelor’s degree required.  Master’s degree in education, educational administration, leadership, or guidance/counseling preferred.
    • Relevant secondary or post-secondary experience such as classroom teaching, counseling, enrollment services or administration required. 
    • Experience in curriculum development, program development and budgeting preferred.
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills are required.  Must work independently, be detail-oriented and organized. Able to create, implement, and follow through with program plans and contracts. 
    • Must have strong computer/technology skills.

    Work Performed:

    • Lead National Alliance of Concurrent Enrollment Partnerships (NACEP) accreditation efforts and maintain NACEP standards in partnership with college and K-12 faculty and administrators.  
    • Maintain active membership to the Iowa Alliance of Concurrent Enrollment partnerships (IACEP).
    • Stay up to date with State of Iowa guidelines for Supplementary Weighted funding for shared programs, Career Academies, articulation agreements, and other funding and programs for partnerships between the community college and high schools.
    • Stay abreast of national trends in college-high school partnerships through activities that may include NACEP conference participation, NACEP Peer Review group, listservs and committee functions.
    • Develop and administer program agreements and contracts with local school districts for courses and programs using college established guidelines.
    • Work with Academic Deans and Program Directors to schedule and deliver courses and programs to high school students.
    • Communicate with area high school administrators and counselors to identify needs and wants for college courses and programs.
    • Manage applicable software that supports High School programs and provide ongoing support to partners as needed.
    • Provide supervision and evaluation to the High School programs staff and faculty on an ongoing basis.
    • Effectively communicate with students, parents and faculty in collaboration with K-12 administrators as necessary.
    • Provide support to career academy faculty, concurrent enrollment instructors, K-12 counselors and administrators.
    • Plan and conduct annual concurrent enrollment faculty workshop(s) and maintain necessary documentation of all meetings. 
    • Manage the concurrent enrollment faculty mentor program, following all accreditation requirements.
    • Plan and coordinate on-campus events with the college’s academic departments and the college admissions office.
    • Offer informational meetings at area school districts to enroll future concurrent enrollment and career academy students. 
    • Lead the enrollment process with appropriate K-12 school personnel and High School programs staff.
    • Update concurrent enrollment manuals, marketing materials, and website information in conjunction with IHCC Marketing Department. 
    • Attend superintendent meetings as needed to provide Indian Hills Community College updates and to actively engage in conversations that advance partnerships between the college and area school superintendents.
    • Attend AEA and State DE meetings as necessary.
    • Work with grants department to apply for and administer state, federal, and private grants related to advancing the High School Programs office.
    • Provide statistics, reports and presentations as requested.
    • Other duties as assigned.
