Position OverviewPrimary Purpose of PositionThe Associate Director for Experiential Learning Programs in the Office of Career Services (OCS) oversees the University comprehensive on and off-campus experiential partnerships and experiential learning programs and will lead the development and direction of an innovative array of programs and services for students, employers, and industry contacts. The focus of these programs and services is to cultivate, sustain and continuously improve external relationships with all academic colleges. The Associate Director collaborates with other student on-campus hiring managers regarding the joint usage of the web-based recruiting system powered by Handshake. This role develops a strong working relationship with employers/recruiters nationwide and advises them on a wide range of marketing strategies, the recruiting process, and in creating job postings. The Associate Director is also a part of the OCS executive leadership team which provides the vision for the office. This position supervises one full-time staff member.
Primary Function of Organizational UnitThe mission of the Office of Career Services (OCS) is to provide centralized, comprehensive, and progressive interdisciplinary programs, services, and resources to prepare the 13,400 A&T undergraduates, graduate students, and alumni for the achievement of personal, professional, and career development that meet the needs of a global society. Career Services is customer focused and centralizes the functions of full-time employment, summer internships, cooperative education, part-time employment, post graduation employment, and career coaching. The centralized, comprehensive and progressive programs, services and resources provided by the Office are tailored to be a gateway for the enhancement of the skills necessary to keep the A&T Aggie competitive in the workplace. The Office brings over 800 employers to campus and provides more than 55,000 position announcements yearly. Individuals who are formally enrolled in a degree-granting program at the University, or who are alumni, are eligible to use the facilities, programs, and services.
Minimum RequirementsMasters Degree in Counseling or related field with five years experience in career services with emphasis on cooperative education, and career-related workshop/seminar development and training. Ability to work independently and cooperatively with others. Demonstrated knowledge of technical skills (career services software and related software). Strong Microsoft Office, assessment, analytical, written and oral communications, and organizational skills.
Preferred Years Experience, Skills, Training, EducationMasters Degree in Counseling or related field with seven years experience in career services with emphasis on cooperative education, and career-related workshop/seminar development and training. Ability to work independently and cooperatively with others. Demonstrated knowledge of technical skills (career services software and related software). Strong Microsoft Office, assessment, analytical, written and oral communications, and organizational skills. Self-directed, creative, service-oriented, with the ability to market and grow employer relations. Leadership in professional career-related organizations. Experience developing policies and procedures.
