  • Position Summary

    LGBT Network is seeking a full-time Director of Programs to oversee programs and services for LGBT people of all ages throughout Long Island (Nassau, Suffolk, and the East End). The Director of Programs manages staff, oversees planning and outreach, and ensures goals and objectives are achieved, with a focus on increasing utilization of existing programs and services.  The Director of Programs is responsible for the success of the Long Island Program Department as indicated by the attainment of established program deliverables. The Director of Programs reports to the Chief Program Officer.

     

    Principal Duties and Responsibilities 

    Program Management & Leadership

    • Oversee day-to-day Long Island program operations for the diverse offerings of programs and events for LGBT people of all ages.
    • Ensure the achievement of established goals and objectives for all programs and services.
    • Create, develop, and lead ongoing planning and program implementation, working with Program Managers and other direct staff, to achieve program goals and objectives, with the overall outcome of maximizing program utilization with high-quality service delivery.
    • Oversee, lead, and grow the agency’s Community Education program, including our signature anti-bullying programs in middle and high schools and empowerment programs in after-school GSA clubs.
    • Oversee and improve community outreach efforts with the goal of engaging more people as participants in programs and events, including identifying new opportunities to engage new LGBT youth into programs.
    • Help plan and produce large-scale programs and events such as the annual LGBT Youth Conference, Youth Prom, LGBT Families Day, and various Pride Initiatives

    Supervision, Management, and Staff Development

    • Oversee the hiring, training, supervision, and professional development of program staff.
    • Provide consistent and ongoing professional support and guidance to staff, including weekly individual supervisions and regular team/department meetings.
    • Develop, implement, and monitor individualized professional development plans for staff, including conducting performance evaluations and updating development plans.
    • Coordinate individual and departmental professional development trainings.
      • Prepare and evaluate weekly program reports to assess progress toward program goals, including identifying improvement areas, and developing and implementing strategies to achieve all program deliverables and impact outcomes
      • Ensure reports are accurate and submitted in a timely manner to funders and management

       

      Additional responsibilities

      • As a member of the Leadership Team, participate in Strategic Planning and Organizational Development activities
      • Build relationships with community partners such as schools and organizations
      • Represent the organization at community meetings, events, and on various committees.
