    Purpose of Position

    The Director of Programs (DOP) is responsible for the quality of the training courseware related to one or more specified Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) to meet regulatory, FlightSafety International, OEM and Customer requirements.

    Tasks and Responsibilities

    Planning Functions:-Determine what new courses and upgrades are needed/required for training programs, on an annual basis.-Manage the processes associated with the development of new programs, and upgrades to existing hardware and programs.-Coordinate with Media and Technology Management to develop plans for courseware and hardware that is slated obsolete.-Complete Courseware Action Plan(s) (CAP)Execution Functions:-Ensure content created during program development and sustainment meets all regulatory requirements, courseware branding, specifications, and standards-Manage the development of new training programs and upgrades of existing training programs to meet regulatory, FlightSafety International, OEM and Customer requirements (Capital and Sustainment Projects). -Supervise the ADOP(s) Program Revisions Manager(s) (PRMs), and ISS(es) and collaborate with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), Associate Centers, Media and Technology Management, Training Operations (MTMO), FlightSafety Specialty and Enrichment, FlightSafety Simulation Systems (FSS), FlightSafety Regulatory Affairs, outside vendors, and FlightSafety Operations in the development of all aircraft training programs.-Establish and sustain the relationship with OEM’s (airframe, engine, avionics, etc.) in order to maintain awareness of the changes needed to satisfy requirements (see “Teamwork Activities”).-Seek opportunities to grow revenue through new course development, i.e. STC (Supplemental Type Certificate), Specialty and Enrichment Courses. -Interact with Operations concerning course Specifications and Standards, and gain their approval of all new and major revision training materials in accordance with the FlightSafety International Operations Manual (Courseware Change Request, Prototype Process collaboration).-Report on overall project status/individual project status with frequency:-Weekly- high level i.e. weekly center staff meeting -Bi-Weekly – root level, SME planning, project planning, risk assessments-Monthly – Collaborate with Business Units (FSS, MTMO)-Quarterly – Prepare for Management Review. Include Project Planning, Project completion, SME utilization, Future (Forecasting) Planning.-Work with teammates and Business Units to establish business case(s) for new projects.Evaluation Functions:-Provide periodic feedback, either verbally or in written form, regarding the performance of vendors, products, etc.-Monitor agreed upon timelines/schedules/costs established by FlightSafety International teammates or outside vendors; report any discrepancies to appropriate parties.-Ensure the presence of a monitoring and review process that keeps all development efforts on track and all required parties informed of progress.-Support the Quality Management System (QMS) while identifying new ways of improving quality and productivity. Provide data to demonstrate continual improvement and make adjustments to leverage quality of products and services for the benefit of Customers.Project Management Responsibilities: NOTE: The DOP oversees the following Project Management activities; in Centers that do not have an ADOP, this position performs the following duties:-Responsible for all aspects of the assigned project (initiate, plan, execute, control, and close).-Assess the project scope and objectives in conjunction with the role and function of each assigned teammate. -Review project performance indicators and take preventative or corrective action to ensure established baselines are maintained and project remains within established variance thresholds.-Interface with all Stakeholders affected by the project, including end users, distributors, and vendors.-Establish workflow, identify staffing requirements, and assign personnel.-Identify appropriate resources needed for project development.-Responsible for developing schedule to ensure timely completion of project.-Research and continuously seek new ways to improve project managemen

    Minimum Education

    Bachelor's Degree (B.A./B.S.) from a four-year college or university orFive (5) years' related experience and/formal education/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience

    Minimum Experience

    At least one (1) year teaching experience as a Ground, Simulator, Maintenance and/or Flight Instructor and/or other education environment preferred.One (1) year of project management experience in relation to curriculum development, publishing, or program management. At least one (1) year with responsibilities for CAP management in excess of $500K, or Management of Projects for over 15 aircraft pilot and/or maintenance programs. Equivalent experience may be considered.

    Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

    CERTIFICATES, LICENSES OR REGISTRATIONS:Airframe and Powerplant License / Airline Transport Pilot Certificate with a Multi-engine Rating and appropriate type rating, preferred -General knowledge of the following software: MS Office; knowledge of MS Access, required.-Project: MS Project, required.-Knowledge of FlightBag and of FlightSafety’s Enterprise Content Management System (Courseware Manager), required.-Other software programs may be required, as needed.

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee may be required to stand; walk; sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and taste or smell.Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, and frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts. The employee occasionally works in high, precarious places and in outside weather conditions and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme cold, extreme heat, risk of electrical shock, risk of radiation, and vibration.The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
