What you will do
The Accounting Specialist/Staff Accountant will perform a variety of accounting activities including accounts payable, accounts receivable, billing, collections and account reconciliations. This position will also assist in standard weekly and monthly financial reporting.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
- Proficient computer skills including strong working knowledge of Excel, Outlook, and Word. Experience using accounting software required.
- Understanding of GAAP and standard accounting processes along with checks and balances.
- Must possess strong oral and written communication skills.
- Data entry and word processing skills with accuracy and attention to detail.
- Conducts self in a professional manner, working to solve problems and find new ways to improve and implement efficiencies within the organization.
- Maintain confidentiality with all information regarding our clients and their families
- Ability to give superior customer service and effectively answer questions.
Qualifications
- Degree in accounting or 5 years of experience preferred.
- Accounting experience to include Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, General Journals, Ledger Reconciliations and Financial Reporting.
- Healthcare experience a plus.
- Hands-on experience with spreadsheets and reporting.
- Prefer experience in an actual accounting setting.
Responsibilities/Expectations
- Responsible for all accounting data entry and Journal Entry preparation.
- Timely process accounts payable and keep vendor files up to date.
- Tracking and entry of company credit card activity.
- Accurate and timely cash postings of payments received from customers into accounting system.
- Complete monthly reconciliation of cash receipts and disbursements.
- Process and maintain accounts receivable and collections for our clients.
- Maintain and ensure accuracy of client trust accounts.
- Prepare bank deposits, general ledger postings and statements.
- Reconcile accounts in a timely manner.
- Research, track and restore accounting or documentation problems and discrepancies.
- Assist with preparation and distribution of weekly/monthly financial reports.
- Assist with tax reporting.
- Record and maintain Fixed Asset List and Depreciation Schedule.
- Prepare for annual Audit and work directly with accounting team during the Audit process.
- Assume assigned responsibilities without need of continuous supervision and carry them out within a reasonable time frame.
