Responsibilities

• The Infection Preventionist Nurse is responsible for working with senior leadership to determine the hospital’s infection control and prevention initiatives, including priorities and implementation plans.
• The Infection Preventionist Nurse is a key figure in educating, advising, and coordinating infection prevention practices in relation to the PSH Mission and Vision.
• The Infection Preventionist Nurse also has the responsibility for developing policies governing control of infections and communicable diseases.
• Duties include implementing policies governing control of infections and communicable diseases and also developing a system for identifying, reporting, investigating, and controlling infections and communicable diseases. 
• The Infection Preventionist Nurse works collaboratively as part of the health system team by living the PSH Mission and Vision. 

Qualifications

Job Requirements:

• Current Texas RN or LVN license  
• Basic Life Support Certification 

Preferred Job Requirements:

• 5 years nursing experience, 2 years in infection prevention  
• Experience working with CMS Regulations, DNV, TJC and OSHA Standards
