Requires applicable Stationary Engineer's license for the state. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Stationary Engineer works under moderate supervision.     Job Description

    General Summary Of Duties:

    Maintain guest rooms, public space and back of the house areas in good repair by performing various tasks related to a variety of trades including but not limited to plumbing, electrical, pneumatics and hydraulics.  Ensure safe and efficient operation of power plant including boilers, chillers, air compressors and related equipment to supply heat, air conditioning, steam, water and related mechanical services. 

    Role and Responsibilities: (Includes but is not limited to the following)

    Work in awkward positions requiring kneeling, crouching, bending, stooping, reaching, lifting and/or carrying to complete the following job functions:
    Electrical Repair:  Toasters, vacuum cleaners, electric lamps, room air condition motors, blenders, electric hand tools, drill motors, screw guns, water vacuums, repair all hand tools, wheel chairs, etc. using screwdrivers, wrenches, wire strippers and electric metering devices.
    Plumbing Repair:  Toilets, drains, faucets, water leaks using wrenches, screwdrivers, plungers and electric snakes.
    Tile Repair:  Silicone, tubs, vanities, sinks, install new floors, vinyl and ceramic walls using silicone gun and grouting tools.
    Special Projects:  Assist in roof leaks, water leaks, installation of new products and air filters.
    Power Plant Maintenance:  Ensure safe and efficient operation of power plant including boilers, chillers, air compressors and related equipment.

    Qualifications

    Performance Requirements: (Knowledge, skills and abilities)
    Ability to effectively deal with internal/external customers, some of whom will require patience, tact and diplomacy to defuse anger, collect accurate information and solve customer concerns.
    Ability to act independently.
    Ability to read, write, speak and understand the English language in order to complete work orders, trip tickets, blue prints, etc. and communicate with superiors, other employees and guests.
    Ability to read, write, speak and understand the English language to follow written and/or verbal instructions.
    Basic mathematical skills necessary to measure, determine supplies, etc.
    Knowledge of mechanics, electrical systems and plumbing sufficient to maintain and supervise engineering department.
    Ability to work in confined spaces and awkward positions, requiring crouching, kneeling, stooping and reaching overhead for extended periods of time.
    Sufficient manual dexterity of hand in order to use hand tool, computer, gauges, drills, meters and telephone.
    This position requires considerable physical activity on a continuous basis throughout the shift.
    Ability to operate hand tools and power tools of trade including but not limited to, wrenches, hammers, hydraulic jack, snakes, chain hoists, drill motors, auger equipment and electric metering devices.
    Ability to grasp, bend, stoop, reach, kneel, crouch, crawl and lift 40 lbs. to a height of 8 feet on a continuous basis.
    Ability to move and work throughout the Hotel for the duration of the shift. Ability to walk/stand and work 90% of shift walking a maximum of 5 miles.
    Ability to remain alert throughout the duration of shift and remain calm during emergency situations.
    Ability to read, write, speak and understand the English language in case of emergency situations and to read caution and/or safety notices.
    Ability to read, write, speak and understand the English language to comprehend product labeling instructions to enable the safe application of products and processes.
    Ability to deal with a number of problems requiring initiative and good judgment.
    Ability to organize/prioritize work, meet deadlines, work with minimal supervision/multiple interruptions, exercise judgment and adapt instructions/directions from one assignment to another.
    Ability to climb ladders (to a height of 30 feet) scaffolding, and stairs to access work areas.
    Check station before, during and after shift for proper set-up and cleanliness.
    Maintain inventory of supplies needed to perform job function.
    Ability to maintain attendance in conformance with standards.
    Ability to maintain a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance.

    Additional Information

    Typical physical / mental demands
    Ability to lift and/or carry supplies/equipment on a hand cart weighing a maximum of 40 lbs. to a height of 6 feet on a continuous basis.
    Ability to push/pull supplies/equipment on a hand cart weighing a maximum of 800 lbs. on a continuous basis.
    Typical Working Condition:
    Ability to work in unfavorable conditions which can occasionally be hot, cold, noisy and wet.
    Ability to perform duties in a confined space.

    May be exposed to casino related environmental factors including, but not limited to: second hand smoke, excessive noise, and constant interaction with the general public.
