Stationary Engineer operates, repairs, and maintains stationary equipment including boilers, generators, refrigeration, and turbines in buildings, plants or industrial facilities. Ensures that equipment is operating safely and within established limits. Being a Stationary Engineer conducts monitoring and failure analysis of meters, gauges and controls to determine the need for repair or replacement of parts. Performs preventative maintenance and documents completed procedures. Additionally, Stationary Engineer requires a high school diploma. Requires applicable Stationary Engineer's license for the state. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Stationary Engineer works under moderate supervision.     With offices located in both the Upper Peninsula and in Traverse City, Michigan Broadband Services is a local provider of FTTH, internet, video, and telephony services.  We are currently seeking a full-time Engineer.


    Responsibilities:


    • Design, implement, and maintain telecommunications systems and services, including fiber deployment and distribution.
    • Develop and interpret detailed design drawings and specifications for telecommunications equipment and systems.
    • Obtain necessary permits and approvals for telecommunications projects, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify system requirements and develop solutions.
    • Perform system analysis, troubleshooting, and performance tuning to ensure optimal system performance and reliability.
    • Stay updated with the latest industry trends and advancements in telecommunications technology.
    • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.
    • Work closely with project managers to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
    • Conduct site inspections and audits to ensure adherence to safety and quality standards.

     

    Qualifications:


    • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Telecommunications, or related field.
    • Licensed professional engineer.
    • Minimum of 5 years of experience in the engineering industry, with a focus on telecommunications.
    • Proven experience in fiber deployment and distribution.
    • Proficient in developing and interpreting design drawings.
    • Experience in obtaining permits and ensuring regulatory compliance.
    • Strong knowledge of telecommunications systems and services.
    • Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
    • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
    • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
    • Proficient in using computer software and applications related to engineering and telecommunications.
    • Commitment to ongoing professional development and learning.
    • A positive attitude and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
