Stationary Engineer operates, repairs, and maintains stationary equipment including boilers, generators, refrigeration, and turbines in buildings, plants or industrial facilities. Ensures that equipment is operating safely and within established limits. Being a Stationary Engineer conducts monitoring and failure analysis of meters, gauges and controls to determine the need for repair or replacement of parts. Performs preventative maintenance and documents completed procedures. Additionally, Stationary Engineer requires a high school diploma. Requires applicable Stationary Engineer's license for the state. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Stationary Engineer works under moderate supervision. Performs inspections and adjustments of equipment.  Reads and interprets blueprints, specifications, operation and maintenance manuals and other documents to determine proper operation.  Troubleshoots and problem solve under normal and abnormal situations.  Operates, adjusts and analyzes various pieces of physical plant equipment through use of computers and microprocessor based devices.  Tests newly installed machines and equipment to ensure fulfillment of contract specifications.  Performs other duties as necessary.
